Definitely recommend-location is 5stars.Posted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: Excellent location, accessiblity and great view
Cons: need wifi in the room fix the squeaky beds, change carpet
Location: Location is right on Rossio Square and walking distance to Commercio Square where you can get sightseeing tours; lots of shops and restaurants around.
Lisbon is a beautiful city with an old world charm. Pros: Excellent location...right on Rossio Plaza and a less than 10 minute walk to the Plaza Commercio which were good places for picture taking and where we were able to get sightseeing tours. There were many shops and restaurants around. Area was safe, lively and convenient to transportation. We had requested a room with a view and we were given a room facing the plaza with a scenic view. Among all the hotels in that area, this hotel has the best view of the Lisbon landscape with a castle on the hilltop. Room had furniture reminiscent of the 1920's, was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Bathroom was clean and spacious too, had pretty wall tiles. Amenities were replenished daily. Free buffet breakfast which was convenient Staff were pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Cons: Old style carpet, squeaky beds. There was one night where drum beating was continuous until 11PM considering the room was facing the plaza. Despite this, the drum sounds were not annoying- had a good night's sleep; still would highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic locationPosted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: The staff were very accommodating and efficient.
Cons: Offer more of a variety for breakfast, other meat except pork, ham or bacon
Location: Main attractions in close proximity or easy to travel to.
We were very impressed with the location. On one of the main squares of Lisbon. Good travel connections: metro station opposite the hotel, Areobus direct to airport on the door step, train station few minutes walk away together with local tram and bus tour operators stops.

hotel needs to replace carpeting, bedding, etcPosted Jul 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Staff was very friendly and helpful, but the carpeting and furniture throughout should be replaced. The bathroom was acceptable, however most of the hotel could have used a good cleaning, painting and overall updating.

Great for adults.Posted Jul 7, 2013
Pros: It's location and the staff.
Cons: The lift! Old and juddery, but never let us down.
The hotel was in the perfect place - right in the centre of things. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Would have given higher scores except for the fact that the hotel shows its past ...a little tired round the edges, but overall an ideal place to stay for a short break.

Hotel Metropole in Lisbon, PortugalPosted Jul 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was fine with a couple of minor issues. The cab driver had trouble finding it because the entrance was VERY narrow on the street. You have to carry your bags up a flight of stairs to get to the elevator. The beds are too short for anyone over 6 feet tall. The bathroom was very nice, clean and large. The morning breakfast was very good with scrambled eggs, bacon, pastries, yogurt and fruit BUT it didn't start until 0730 and we had a morning flight so we were pushed for time. I would recommend this hotel to stay at for a good central city location. It is located right on a major square with statues and fountains and LOTS of good restaurants close by.
