“Smallish, attractive, quiet, and comfortable”

If you are looking for a quiet, attractive hotel, the Lisboa Plaza Hotel is an excellent choice. My wife and I stayed here for five nights, including New Year’s Eve, 2012. The hotel is smallish—not a boutique hotel, but smaller than hotels that cater to large tour groups. The décor is traditional (as opposed to historical or chic). Our room was clean, large and included a separate seating area. Furnishings were elegant and tasteful. Both elevators worked well. Situated on a quiet street, a block away from Liberdade Avenue, there are a number of high-end stores nearby. The lobby, lounge areas, and bar are attractive and well-decorated. The location is in the city center, but not as convenient as, say, the Avenida Palace. It is about a 10 minute walk to Roccio Square, one of the more vibrant areas in the city center with bars, cafes, and restaurants, and about a 15 minute walk to Rua Auguste, one of the nicer, pedestrian-only shopping areas in Lisbon. We found the staff—like most of the Portugese we met—to be warm, friendly, and hospitable. A full breakfast buffet was included, with no shortage of pastries. There is also a gym, which we didn't use; Lisbon’s hilly cobblestone streets and sidewalks provided plenty of exercise. Free Wi-Fi was provided, but the connection speed was sluggish at times. Room service was quite reasonable as was the bar. The guests included quite a few couples and families, mostly from Europe, but with a smattering of Americans, Japanese, and others.

This hotel is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone. It is in a perfect location if you are interested in being close to downtown and seeing the sites and it is a 10 minute walk from the castle in Lisbon. Also, the hotel staff recognized it was my birthday and gave my guest and I a free bottle of Champagne for free.

Beautiful decor. Great staff. Suite was fabulously decorated and very comfortable. Unusual to have such a great location combined with a superb hotel at a very reasonable price!

“Very nice, modern hotel in Lisbon”

We recently spent one night at the Lisboa Plaza Hotel, as well as several nights at other hotels in Lisbon. The Lisboa Plaza was extremely nice and comfortable with all the modern conveniences. Very spacious room, beautiful marble bathroom, and a very cool patio overlooking the city. They also had the best breakfast buffet we encountered on our whole trip. We would definitely go back.

Great hotel. Very pleased with the staff. Very large rooms for European standards. The location is good - you can easily walk to the main 'tourist' areas in 10 minutes. Can't think of anything bad to say.

We stayed at this hotel during 4/2010 and enjoyed it very much. Nice location, safer neighborhood. Good service, good English. Two free internet connections. Breakfast included and great buffet. Quiet room. Soft beds. Clean bathroom. Worth the money. We had a very nice time here.
