“Nice surpirse”
The front desk staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The breakfast buffet was a nice surprise and offered lots of choices, including the different coffee selections. The location of the hotel was also very handy to the downtown area, if you don't mind walking, otherwise it was close to a bus stop. The surrounding area was safe and well-lit. It was also quiet at night/

There was construction on the street in front, which was inconvenient. Very clean facility and excellent staff. Bar served light fare which was handy. Breakfast came with the room - adequate fare.
“OK for a budge traveller”
Upon our arrival and throughout our stay, the staff was helpful and held our bags since our room was not ready (we arrived early). They spoke English - what a relief! Difficult to find the hotel (street sign is located on a square tile located on the corner of a building), and the construction two buildings down did not help (trash pick up at midnight was very loud but other than that not a problem maybe because our stay was on a weekend). The room was quite small, barely room for a double bed and desk (no clock/alarm but they do wake up calls), bathroom was not the cleanest (difficult to keep free from mildew because there is no fan/ventillation), poor plumbing? (could hear each time a person in the surrounding rooms flushed/showered). No shampoo/conditioner. Location was quite a walk to the city, cobblestones did not help one bit. Metro station located right out the door of the hotel - helpful. Large supermarket complex, El Corte Ingles, a block up the street. I am a budget traveller, and yes, you get what you pay for. Overall, I'd say this was ok, but I wouldn't stay here again due to the location and room quality.
“Decent hotel”
The hotel is good and has a good placement (a new metro station is right at as front door). The breakfast is OK.
“Modern and reasnonable location”
I was somewhat concerned about the reviews I read regarding the construction noise. Although the construction is still ongoing in May 2009 I did not hear any significant noise. The decor is modern. The location is reasonable because you are about 3 blocks from the Eduardo Monument so when you go to the Park you are at the top and have an amazing view of Lisbon which stretches out to the plaza downtown and into the sea.
