Lovely friendly hotel.

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: The small size and relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. And its position.
Cons: Not a lot to improve. Just keep it going as it is.
Location: Very close to the Castel St Jorge - itself one of Lisbon's great attractions.
The staff were very friendly, the hotel is quite small and all the better for that.

Delightful hotel in Castle vicinity

Posted Mar 27, 2014
Pros: Nice building, interesting location, complimentary tea and coffee. Staff were generally friendly without being intrusive...and spectacular peacocks!
Lovely hotel in the hills right next to Castelo Sao Jorge. The room was small but tidy and very comfortable. The staff were generally helpful and friendly without being intrusive. The hilly area offers great views but older people or those with mobility problems may need to use buses and trams. A particular highlight was the peacocks that reside in the castle and that occasionally visit the garden/patio area.

Very special location, ideal for exploring Lisbon

Posted Mar 24, 2014
This hotel is hidden within the castle walls but with the advent of the new elevators it is much easier to reach than we had imagined and is a perfect location for exploring Lisbon. The hotel is beautifully appointed and watching the peacocks strut their stuff in the courtyard is a real spectacle while enjoying a delicious breakfast. The sights and sounds of Alfama are only a short distance away yet the hotel is very peaceful and you can be guaranteed a good night's sleep

Lovely, peaceful and wonderful hotel

Posted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: Everything......decor, location....and of course the staff
We looked at the photographs of this hotel and booked this place immediately. We did see a peacock in one of the photos but thought it can't be true. When we reached the airport and booked the cab, the lady at the tourism informed that this hotel was within the castle grounds!!!! We were just stunned and did not realise this when we booked the hotel. When we reached the hotel , we were greeted by at least 5 peacocks.....my daughter was super excited . We were vegetarians and found it difficult to find a place nearby which serves good vegetarian food. The hotel staff were wonderful and managed to arrange for excellent indian vegetarian food to be delivered to the hotel. I am glad we stayed at this wonderful place .Very clean hotel and excellent decor Thanks to the wonderful staff.

A gem tucked away within the walls of a Castle!

A wonderful stay in an unusual location. Not the easiest place to reach in Lisbon (up on the hill nestled in with the Castle) but certainly the most interesting and different. Lovely hotel/Inn setting, extremely helpful staff, very clean and elegant. Staff suggestions for restaurants in the area always perfect. Lovely stay!

We only stayed one night but loved this sweet little hotel. The pretty courtyard, the sunshine, the location, the friendly staff. It was just what we wanted. Thank you.

Top-notch hotel in beautiful setting

Absolutely wonderful hotel for our first visit to Lisbon. The situation, built in to the walls of the old castle is beautiful and romantic, with the windows looking into the castle grounds or the lovely courtyard or both, and from our room also big view of city lights and river. The furnishings were at the high standard you would expect at a luxury hotel: modern spacious shower enclosure, bath/spa products provided, robes, a large assortment of towels, very comfortable bed. The location is at the top of the hill near some shops and restaurants, easy access to the city, but a very quiet neighborhood at night. You can walk down to the center of the city in about 10 minutes, or walk a few minutes less to a tram stop, or just take a taxi. The breakfast was a very nice buffet, and they also provided a nice offering of gluten-free breads for my husband who needs them. Finally, there was someone at the desk at all times of day and night who was always extremely helpful with restaurant and tour advice, making bookings, calling taxis, and in our case helping us resolve the retrieval of a mobile phone that we left in a taxi and was found but after we had returned home. If I could, I would give them a 6th star for the service, which was truly exceptional.

Perfect weekend retreat

Pros: Helpful staff
Cons: None
Location: Right by the castle, on the castle hill, so you need good legs to get to and from it.

Beautiful Heritage hotel, small friendly and peace

Posted May 9, 2013
Pros: Sitting in the courtyrad for breakfast, so peaceful...apart from the peacock.
Cons: Not sure there is anything
Location: Beautiful, peaceful and hilly
Lovely, small, frinedly hotel in the castle ground! You can't get closer to the heritage than this. Staff were great, buffet breakfast was one of the best, couldn't fault the hotel at all....but not for people who can't walk uphill! set in the grounds of Castelo Sao Jorge you have to climb up to the top of the hill - or get the tram and then walk up the last section of hillside so not for the faint hearted or those with bad knees.....but well worth it.

Castle secret style!

Pros: The Decor and Service and location
Cons: Wish it had
Location: Good location not too far from town but very special
Great Hotel very well decorated, good staff nice breakfast. As the hotel is small it does not have a restaurant but they will recommend places to eat. the courtyard is a great escape at the end of site seeing days. Lovely comfy bed great linen good towels, robes and slippers. Honesty bar and complimentary. Tea and coffee and some cakes too.
