Just what we neededPosted Mar 22, 2015 on Hotels
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We were just looking for a clean bed and a quiet place to sleep and the Balmoral Hotel fit the bill. Lovely high ceilings, big rooms, large bathroom, plenty of windows, and an extensive display for breakfast, this was a great hotel for our overnight stay. With that said, there were a couple of cobwebs hanging from the chandelier, the decor was a bit dated, and molding in the bathroom needs to be updated. These things don't bother me. It was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our time there.

Anything but 'Superior'Posted Feb 19, 2015 on Hotels
The Balmoral is one of the few hotels that allow dogs, and is in walking distance of the town. Although the 'Superior' room was twice the price of the Std we booked it as it was our 10th anniv. There was absolutely nothing at all superior... Furniture was cheap, old & chipped Shower hose was too short making a shower difficult Mould on the skirtings Around the basin filled with lumps of filler Window didn't open Fridge rusty & noisy Large cobwebs on ceiling Buffet breakfast cold, congealed and the cheapest ingredients, even the teabags Kitchen closed, so no evening meal options If you have a dog, the only place we found to eat & drink was the Victoria which was friendly. We won't be returning. Maybe the std room at £39 is better vfm, but for c£80 the Superior was definitely not. When we left, the owner did not ask about our stay, and by this point, we were so fed up, we couldn't be bothered to proactively tell her.
