The people running the place couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. There is a bus stop just over the road from the property that will run you into the center of town. We didn't use the service as we didn't find it too far to walk. The breakfast was really good value, with a choice of continental breakfast, or a cooked breakfast or if hungry enough both. The room was large and roomy, with a seperate en-suite and large bath towels

We have stayed at the balmoral many times.. but this time was not as good as before.. the mattress in room 3 was so uncomfortable it felt like we’d slept on a park bench.. won’t put us off staying again but hopefully not in that room..

A quaint hotel
This was an old fashioned hotel with lots of character, in need of updating. The heating was only on for a short while in the evening and i was unable to get the electric radiator going. I called the owner who kindly came out immediately to get it going.

Great value for money if you want a clean and friendly BnB. The property is a bit shabby and it's not the Ritz but they provide excellent value for money. Great if you just need a comfy bed for the night. Liked the fridge in the room too.

The owners very friendly and the room graat qualiry for price. The shower however was disappointing as water not hot enough and toilet didnt flush fully and as a woman going through a certain time of the year was embarrassing as wouldn't flush unril 4th time

Pleasant overnight stay
Very nice overnight stay at the Balmoral, although I only booked a single room, I was upgraded to a roomy twin with terrace and access to the garden, the room was very pleasant and included a fridge which was well stocked, the free off road parking was a bonus and the cooked breakfast at only £5 was a lovely start to the day, would happily stay agin.

Lovely clean and comfortable room with tea and coffee facilities. Friendly and helpful proprietors, fridge in rooms with contents if wished to purchase, lovely breakfast at very reasonable cost £5:00. Parking on site and only 2 minutes to shops and pubs. Would stay again

First of all the receptionist was so so lovely and welcoming. Free parking was a bonus and even allowed us to leave the car parked after checking out which allowed us to spend a couple of hours in the town. Short walk to the town centre (about 10mins). Hotel is in need of modernising. Would benefit even from just some white paint. Noticed a lot of black hairs all over the floor so not sure how clean it was but bathroom and sheets appeared clean enough. Childrens matress wasnt good. Had a 6yr old complaining about the springs had to get her to lie on 2 covers so she could sleep. Would we come again? Probably not, however for what we paid we wasnt disappointed.

Perfectly serviceable room, very large twin with patio doors to the garden which was lovely and I like the fact there was a bath, with a good shower. Beds comfortable and good facilities, including coffee tray and kettle. Could do with updating but cannot complain for the budget price. Staff very helpful and would visit again. Thank you from a mum and son guest.

If you want luxury then this hotel is not for you, stayed 1 night, room is very basic and very dated, shame the bar in the hotel was closed. Overall the hotel is fine if you want no frills for 1 or 2 nights , I would stop here again but no longer that a couple of nights, but at the price you can't really fault it

Hosts are welcoming and friendly. Breakfast only 5 pounds. Worth it if you dont have a cooked breakfast even. Cereals, toast, fruit, tea ,coffee and fruit juice. Host even asked if anything else required at breakfast. Hesketh park nearby for a nice walk. Close to town centre approx 15 min walk. Hotel and rooms probably need a makeover but for value for money, free car parking, you cannot go wrong.

The hotel is clean but dated. This is one of those hotels where if £1,000 was spent on each room then they could charge an additional £30 per night and recoup their outlay in a matter of months. The shower barely wets you, the floorboards squeaked, or had holes. There was no sound proofing between floors. The bar and restaurant was not open, which was a shame because if the food in the morning was anything to go by the dinners would be fantastic. That said, for the price it was okay and the breakfast was excellent.
