Very poor hotel.

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Very poorly maintained, with very old furnishings, and stained carpets and chairs. Quite an uncomfortable stay. The staff were the only positive.

Adelphi Liverpool

Posted Nov 15, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything from cleanliness, to modernizing the entire hotel. The attitude of staff also could do with improvement.
Location: This was the fifth time I have used this hotel this year ( in Liverpool for football ). I will not be using it again.
Aside from location there is nothing positive to say about this hotel.

Grand hotel, shame about the entrance!

Posted Nov 8, 2014
Hotel would benefit from the dead flower filled hanging baskets being removed, the smokers too being expelled from the immediate vicinity of the entrance, a doorman replacing the "bouncers:" on the door and the cooking smells that waft around the entrance on arrival. This would not be a bad thing if they were pleasant smells but instead they were cabbage and cooked fish. Its a shame because the hotel had been grand and still carries much of its original grandeur which is why we wanted to stay there. Room was nice, large and well restored, the beds were comfortable however revellers in the early hours in the room above meant that we had to phone reception. Died down initially then restarted, resulting in a second call to reception. The phone was heard to ring upstairs and the noise stopped almost immediately. It was a shame as the broken sleep, not the fault of the hotel, meant that we were quite tired the noet day.

Lovely old hotel in a great central location

Posted Nov 3, 2014
The location couldn't be much better - bang in the centre of town - and the windows are fairly well sound-proofed so you will get a good night's sleep. The room was very well kept and clean. Everything was VERY SLIGHTLY run down, a couple of blown light bulbs etc, but this did not detract from the experience. The main lobby is stunning. Cutting to the chase, it's good value for money and an overall good experience! Highly recommended.

Sad, tired, very poorly maintained

Posted Nov 2, 2014
Pros: well situated for central attractions. Good breakfast.
Cons: Everything else
Location: Excellent location, easy to find.
It took 25 mins to check in despite only one person ahead of us and 2 staff on desk. Toilet in bathroom would not flush - isolating valve to cistern turned off. Opened valve and cistern leaked all over floor. Towel rail had had same problem for months (loads of scale where had leaked) so valve handle had been removed. Upholstery on both bedroom chairs badly stained. Room very noisy due to youngsters partying in multi-storey carpark opposite until 3.00 am. Worst ever hotel stay and I'm 76.

Not what we expected from a very expensive hotel!

Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: Sarah the Bar Manager in the French restaurant was pleasant. The chambermaid was the most polite and helpful person during the weekend
Cons: Staff management. Would have been nice to have an individual pot of tea at breakfast instead of stewed tea from a large pot
Location: Obviously ideal for Hen and Stag dos with being central to pubs and clubs. We recommend going out for breakfast at one of the local Cafes
The Hotel was extremely noisy and it was impossible to get much sleep. The room was cramped and again nosy from the street. People were shouting in corridors at 4 in the morning. You had to pay extra for the gym/swimming facilities and on Saturday it was closed at 5 p.m. We dined at the French Restaurant which was good but the small bar there was crowded with a large group of men getting drunk and being loud and swearing. None of which ate in the Restaurant. We had breakfast in Jennys which was very expensive for what you got and the staff totally disinterested. Stewed pot of coffee on each table and had to chase down staff to get tea. Access to the Lounge was denied all weekend due to a conference. On looking in the lounge there were people lying on the chairs eating Macdonalds etc. On returning at night there were dirty plates and glasses on every available surface in foyer. Children were playing and running round in revolving door and no staff were paying any attention. Also they were playing in the lifts and no-one seemed to care! We had to make our way through a big crowd congregated on the front steps all smoking and swearing etc. Not what we expected from what turns out to be a very expensive hotel. We assumed the Britannia Hotel Group would have higher standards than this.

bad rooms

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything from the elevators to the twin beds( what hotel still has these?) to the entire inside.
Location: Location is ok near Lime Street rail station and shopping at Liverpool one is a short walk away.
location is the only thing this hotel has. the rooms are old and in need of updating. Not just updating but a total redo for the entire place. Leave the old charm in the public places but totatly redo everyting else. Do NOT reccomend ever staying here!
