Excellent overnight stayPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: The staff could not do enough for you. They were extremely friendly and helpful.
Cons: General maintainence - our tap turned within the basin - it needed tightening
We had a very pleasant stay, we were passing through Birkenhead and it was absolutely suitable for our needs.

Pros: Looked friendly, was clean, great price for 4 of us in one room
Cons: Plug socket in room wasn't noticeable so we had a kettle and didn't know where to plug it in till one of us asked.
Location: Looked a nice area, 20 min walk from Birkenhead Central Rail Station so easy to get to Liverpool

DisappointingPosted Aug 28, 2012
Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: Shower useless, no decent mirror with plug nearby; noisy
Location: Good in relation to where were going.
No plug near the dressing table to plug hairdryer into, plus one very small mirror (which could not be adjusted) on the dressing table. There was a larger mirror by the main door into the room but no plug here.... Pressure of water from shower was very low so useless for washing long hair! Very noisy doors, we were woken up several times in the night as the guests next door came back in and the doors slammed automatically. When we went came back to the hotel after out night out, there were several foreign men coming down the stairs(appeared to be Polish I think) who were obviously working in the area and staying at the hotel. They were a little intimidating as they made no move to let us past to get up the stairs. They were also very noisy outside in the car park and my partner was concerned about his car getting damaged. They were also very noisy in the car park the next morning as well when they were getting picked up by a minibus.

single room stayPosted Jan 22, 2012 on Hotels
The single room is very very small, not enough room to walk, as you get down from your bed you can directly step into bath room. TV is also portable.

BirkenheadPosted Jun 20, 2011
Our room had recently been decorated, but a lot of little things, esp in the bathroom were not right. No towel rail; shower door did not shut completely; light over basin did not work; toilet seat fittings broken/absent; no water glasses. In the bedroom it was necessary to unplug the extension lead for the kettle in order to plug in the TV. Full English breakfast OK but nothing more. My wife's dinner was no better than acceptable.

Shrewsbury Lodge Guest House, BirkenheadPosted May 13, 2011 on Hotels
This Guest House was a real find. Home from Home! Very friendly and helpfull staff, pleasant surroundings, breakfast and evening meals very good. I was a 'late arrival' on the Sunday night, but this was not a problem and arrangements were made to fit in. Car parking and Wi-Fi a bonus. Convenient for anywhere on the southside of the Mersy or through the tunnel to Liverpool. I will be using them again when I am in the area.
