A fabulous hotel. Exceptional reception / Restaurant staff. They couldn’t do enough for you. Great breakfast something for everyone. Upgraded to executive rooms and wasn’t disappointed. Definitely be back. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Thornton Hall is a good quality hotel with well trained and polite staff and good amenities.Also ample parking and good choice at breakfast. My only issue would be the poor quality of lighting in our bedroom particularly if you want to do some work or apply make up

We received a lovely warm welcome from the staff who were really helpful with everything we needed. They helped with our bags, told us where everything was and ordered us a taxi etc.. our room was beautiful, clean with a huge comfortable bed. We used the spa which was very clean and I loved the outside hot tubs. We ate in the brasserie and the food was very tasty. Breakfast buffet was lovely too.

The room next to ours had a group of women, which was more than the people assigned to the room, like 6 or 7. they were listening to loud music and clearly drunk with booze in their room Twice we complained to reception to get them to calm down and quieten down as a courtesy to us and other guests, however the hotel staff did not get them to do so. long and short we got no sleep and it spoiled our stay

Nice but noisy
Great hotel and location but…avoid a room anywhere near one of their function rooms. The walls are thin and no soundproofing. Room was very hot too

I stay at Thornton Hall a lot for business and I always find the staff extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms are a good standard and Spa is very good (when I have time)

Absolutely lovely place this and highly recommended. If you want treatments, I would advice you to book in advance as there was no space left when we arrived.

Lovely hotel, nice comfy bed. Even had an upgrade which was nice. The only down point was the food, I ate in The Lounge bar in the evening , wasn't impressed.

Enjoyable stopover for shopping trip
Stayed for 1 night in between shopping at Liverpool One for the day and Cheshire Oaks next day. Lovely hotel, room was clean and modern and nice to be able to use the spa for a swim. The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice.

We traveled at night so We were getting lost. Hotel staff could not help us to locate we’re we were so that we can get to the hotel. Eventually we got there. The bathroom was not very clean considering it’s a 4* plus hotel. Shower not working properly. Toilet sit was stained. Beds were very comfortable Breakfast was the best Facilities were excellent

We have stayed at the hotel many times . Disappointed that now have to pay for spa if not having breakfast and have to pay for towels .I have stayed before on a B&an basis and found breakfast very poor value for the price charged . Staff lovely

The hotel room was dated and no air con. Not worth the price we paid. The spa was very dated. The rasul hadn’t been cleaned before we Used it and was disgusting. The ceiling was damp and the whole place seemed grubby. Again, not worth the money.

Lovely stay, great food and pleasant spa. Very embarrassing situation on arrival when the staff would not accept Northern Irish Bank notes as payment. They insisted on contacting their accounts department which wouldn't answer. I was told "it's important to be thorough" by a supervisor hiding in the back room, when I pointed out they are legal tender anywhere in the UK. Luckily enough, common sense prevailed when a shift change happened many hours later, and a very polite man verified the notes would be absolutely fine as they are Stirling and no different to a Bank of England or Scotland notes.

Lovely hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable clean rooms. BUT when i was there the wifi only worked in the central lounge area which was a problem. I understand they are undergoing an upgrade so its supposed to be a temporary issue, and the staff did what they could.....but it was a pain as i was trying to work remotely one of the mornings.

Solo trip
The rooms and decor are very dated and much lived in but they are clean and spacious making it acceptable place to stay. TV signal does not work-not an issue for me but I imagine some would find it more if a problem. Staff are all pleasant. Breakfast was ok too. Only ate in the bar-pretty limited menu so wouldn’t wish to stay longer than a night or two.

I’ve stayed here three times and I’ve been impressed with the food, service and the spa. I would highly recommend this hotel for a break or if you’re in the area on business.
