Disappointing 5* hotelPosted Nov 11, 2013
Location: This hotel is not near anything except the sea. We must have been there off-season (mid-September) because the restaurants we did see were closed.
Some of the hotel staff acted like they were doing us a favor by helping us. While the shower was large, the grout was dirty and moldy. The shower leaked all over the floor and we spent 45 minutes cleaning it up. We reported it - a member of the staff was there within minutes, but said nothing could be done until the next day. My husband ended up using sports tape to fill all the gaps. Apparently someone showed up the next day to fix the shower, but it still leaked. As they were leaving, they knocked a vent off the wall and did not put it back. They had to have known they did it. We had the garden view room (really, it was a parking lot, mechanical building view). When I asked for a free upgrade since the hotel was no where near full, they quoted me 140 euro per night. Not worth it. Went upstairs to the bar for a drink. No bartender on site. We waited 30 minutes for him to show up, and then another 30 minutes to get our drink.

A touch of luxuryPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Lovely room with high ceilings and quality furnishings. Sea view from balcony. Massive bed and lovely bathroom.
Cons: Roof top pool cold and not great for swimming, but with a fantastic view. No other leisure facilities which you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
Location: Only in Livorno for one night so just had a walk along the attractive seafront promenade. There was an outdoor sea pool that was closed opposite.
Great last day hotel in Italy. Luxury at a reasonable price in Livorno. We did not eat at the hotel as we prefer small and cosy cafes, ristorantes etc. Generally cheaper of better value and quality than hotels in Italy. Although cannot comment on the food at this particular hotel. Some of the staff did not have a lot of English but we did not have much Italian either, which made us have a go with the aid of a phrase book!

Outstanding hospitality and comfort.Posted Sep 25, 2013
Pros: The top floor is a leisure centre and outdoor/Indoor dining area. It was clean and welcoming. Staff were consistent and well trained.
This was a business trip following a family emergency. The Hotel was well located on the LIDO area, a 25 minute walk away from the Port where cruise ships are discharging. There were local restaurants and shops, but the Hotel food was excellent. The Via Grande and shopping Centro is the same short walk away. The weekend is an opportunity to enjoy the Livornese at leisure in the Lido area, with much happening on the sea front.

Beautiful 5 star hotelPosted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Not much to do in Livorno but the hotel has a nice location in front of the sea, so you can enjoy the sea or better, the hotel rooftop swimming pool.30 minute walk to city center. Big bedroom, excellent big buffet breakfast, welcoming and nice service at the restaurant. Strongly recommended!

lovely, smart hotel. staff very friendly and helpful and a good spot for either exploring Tuscany or just chilling on the roof by the pool. Easy to get to from Pisa airport. View from roof terrace of sunset is perfect.

Grand Hotel...shame about the area & the coffee.Posted Jun 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
Booked in for 2 nights in a Junior Suite with Sea View, arrived at 14.20 and was offered Garden View suite and told Sea View was extra on pointing out that we had booked Sea View suite attitude of receptionist became less friendly, told that no rooms where ready and would have too wait 10 minutes whilst one was cleaned and prepared. Roof terrace offers great views of Sea and Lido opposite, very funky swimming pool also next to restaurant. We eventually got our room after waiting 35 minutes and very frosty service from reception, which continued for next 2 days. The Hotel at one time would have been in a grand location, not so these days as surrounding area a little run down and bar in building next door on the two nights we looked in had some very interesting customers!!. We never sampled the Hotel restaurant instead choosing one of the local ones on the promenade, food was very good and excellent value. Finally the coffee, maybe some of the worst i've encountered in many years of travel, for a Italian hotel let alone a 5* to serve coffee of this quality at breakfast is maybe forgivable but to charge 4.5euro on the roof terrace for un drinkable sludge is a crime.
