10 minutes by car from ferry terminal and banks

Posted Oct 25, 2014
Pros: Friendly helpful staff and well maintained gardens
Cons: hand towels / face cloths, tea and coffee supplied in room.
Very helpful and friendly staff. We stayed in the basic bungalow which is just beds and bathroom. No frills. no kettle or cups etc. Only bath towels no hand towels or face cloths. Clean pool and on the waters edge but no beach. Nice dining and TV area with continental breakfast included. Nice gardens. Bus stop, petrol station and shop just outside gateway.

Excellent Service

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: It is very relaxed and personal
Cons: Access from pool to bar is only thing I thought could be improved upon.
Location: This is really a blob place. There are many sights to see round the island and buses are frequent and it is only 10 minutes to town to hire a car.
All staff looked after us in exemplary fashion leaving nothing to chance and we rarely waited more than a minute or two for anything at all

Pleasant facilities and surrounds

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: Generally the value and comfort.
Cons: The breakfasts were quite good but perhaps a change of egg presentation from day to day instead of boiled every day?
Location: The SAVAIIAN is good place to relax and use as a base. I walked around the nearby villages every day but really most people would need to hire a car.
Olivia and the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Originally I was booked into a BUNGALOW but I found it a bit spartan and upgraded to a room with water views, aircon, en suite and fridge. The room was clean and comfortable. The vista from the room's veranda was over surrounding gardens to the ocean. One of the main reasons I went to Samoa was to snorkel so consequently my only disappointment with the SAVAIIAN HOTEL was the muddy water for 80 metres from the shore and no beach. However there are free kayaks available so you can paddle to the reef (300 metres) and some islets (800 metres) and snorkel there. The pool was smallish but nice. I found the food very good for the 5 nights I was there, especially the dinners. Generally I believe THE SAVAIIAN is good value but would suggest you get a car for at least a day to look around this beautiful island which is about 180 k's circumference or 4 to 5 hours driving plus stops. Beware taxis on the "big" island are expensive and inconsistent. Thanks to all the staff, especially the funny cleaning ladies who wanted to get me married off.

Soso. I will say just ok. However I won't recommend any of my friend go there.

Great hotel, great start to your Savai'i adventure

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: We particularly liked the easy-going feel of the place.
Cons: We were happy with it just the way it was.
Location: The hotel is conveniently close to the ferry. As we stayed at a hotel on the northwestern end of the island afterwards, we used the Savai'in as a base
Everything was good about our stay at this hotel: we had a clean, comfortable and quiet room facing the sea, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the food was very good, beautiful gardens, great views towards Upolu and islands, good facilities including a swimming pool, and canoes for patrons' use. We stayed for 4 nights, and travelled out from there each day before moving westward on the island, and it proved to be a very good base from which to visit various tourist destinations. We also canoed to the small islands, swam about 100 metres towards the reef and enjoyed some great snorkelling in beautiful coral gardens. We would definitely stay there again.

Cheap and cheerful

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The staff were very warm and friendly.
Cons: The bedding, the hammocks, the sun loungers, the pillows, the cleaning standard, the noise.
Location: Location has nice food and cheap drinks. Nothing really within walking distance but close to some other nice beaches and resorts if you have transport
We had been seduced by the pictures of hammocks hanging in cute little fales along the water front, however the pictured fale was leaning on one or two beams and the only two hammocks we could see were ripped in half. The bed in our bungalow was hard and the pillows were lumpy. There were a few piles of dirt on the floor in the bathroom and it looked like none of the surfaces had been wiped in a long time. The hotel lacked anywhere relaxing to lie back or even sit and read a book with hard wooden sun lounges by the pool. The last few nights we stayed the locals started blasting loud music around 5 AM. When given snorkeling gear the mask leaked and the snorkel didn't work However the staff were wonderful

HI James, we are sorry to hear of your disappointing stay with us. We take all comments seriously and have brought your concerns to the attention of our housekeepers to address issues in our rooms. All our hammocks have now been replaced . The fale on the left side of our waterfront is still in good condition but you are correct in that the one of the right is leaning and it is currently being dismantled at this very moment. Cushions are available for sun loungers from our bar and we have now pasted a notice out so that our guests are all aware of this. We hope you might return to Savaii to enjoy our island again in the future, regards Management

Tranquility and Comfort

Posted May 14, 2014
Savaiian has been nothing but loyal and peaceful for the third time round. Simplicity at its best and restaurant is of top quality, providing the best quality and price (not to mention best tasting raw fish on the island!). Greeted to very friendly staff every morning, never misses a smile. There's no other experience but the Savaiian experience.

Comfortable Hotel on Savaii

Posted Apr 24, 2014
Reasonably priced hotel with comfortable rooms, friendly staff and good food. Its far from luxurious, there are no sandy beaches along its waterfront and the complimentary breakfast is very basic. Definitely recommend having a car if staying here
