The Sofitel St James is a beautiful escape from the bustle of London. Gloriously decorated, friendly and welcoming staff and opulently understated surrounds make this a delightful hotel. Our room was next to the gym and we never heard a thing the building is so well designed to control noise. The breakfast was delicious each morning and the bar staff produced perfect drinks each evening. Our only grizzle was the bathroom door which was dreadful - French doors that did not allow for noise separation between it and our bedroom. Other than that, it was a perfect stay.

I received an upgrade from Expedia so really enjoyed extra value for money. Even without the upgrade, I think it would have been more than satisfactory.
King size, comfortable bed in a large, clean, modern, quiet and well-appointed room. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice for travellers of all origins. Staff were friendly and helpful, including check-in, restaurant and the people who organised my transportation. Will definitely use this hotel again.

I was in London for the first time and was very concerned about hotel location and comfortability. Shopping on Expidia gave me a very good rate for Novotel at Blackfrairs. The location is great: very close to Malevich and Tote Museums and from any tourist attractions located in the City of London. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was beyond my expectations. Will stay there again!!!

My wife and I had a two day stop over in England. Our general experience with hotels in England has been less than impressive so we were delighted at the Sofitel especially given that it was within the airport complex.

Great location - right next to Tower Hill tube stop. Very close to Tower of London - in fact we had a fantastic view of Tower and Bridge. Rooms were small but very comfortable and actually fine for three of us using the comfortable sofa bed. Beds were comfortable, good shower, nice bathroom. Breakfast was fine but expensive if not included in the room rate.
Tip is to walk to Spitalfields market or St Katherine's Dock for restaurant choices.

1st and definitely not last stay in a Novotel. Modern, clean, good food and fab location. Minor niggle was that there was no hand wash basin in the toilet only one in the bathroom. Some train noise due to very close proximity to the train station, but for me being that close to the station after a hard day sight seeing is a blessing! Wasn't loud enough to interrupt our sleep. Great base for exploring Greenwich and so easy to reach popular tourist attractions in a matter of minutes.
