Good location, decent value

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Location. Staff.
Cons: Shower controls will need replacing fairly soon.
Location: Very close to Gatwick airport. Petrol station with shop right outside.
Good budget option close to Gatwick. It looks pretty dire from the outside, but don't be put off. The staff were friendly, the room clean and comfortable. The bathroom fittings are no longer in the prime of their youth, but are clean and serviceable. Bar menu seems slightly overpriced for what you get, but that's not surprising for a place with a captive audience. Airport shuttle is very convenient (note: not free; for a group of more than 2 a taxi would probably be cheaper as it's £3pp) Basically, everything you need for a quick overnight stop before or after a flight, and much more reasonably priced than most places in the area. Would use again.

Practical hotel for overnight stay next to airport

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: convenient location next to airport and cleanliness.
Cons: It would be useful for the hotel to have a map of its location in comparison to the airport and the adjacent village or a brochure of "things to see'
Location: location great
Take hotel bus from airport, and it only takes a few minutes to hotel. The room was spacious, and quiet. The little town of Horley is a few steps from the hotel across a roadway. One can walk through a meadow and look at an old church. The hotel is a quiet place to unwind and relax before the long plane ride home. Bring some snacks such as a macaroni salad and a canned drink if you want to stay in the hotel room.

Comfortable overnight stopover

Shuttle service throughout the night was helpful. Nice sized rooms. Thin walls so can hear everything. Good shower/bathroom but could have been cleaner (hairs still on the walls of the shower).

Convenient and was what it needed to be!

Posted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: see above
Cons: The bathroom facilities of any hotel accommodation need maintenance and to be regularly updated: I guess my facilities were looking a little "tired".
Location: There wasn't too much if anything to do in vicinity. The local town centre was probably within walking distance though I didn't explore!
I needed a roof over my head the night before a very early flight abroad. Although not the most beautiful building in the world it was both practical and efficient establishment. The key for me was a helpful and efficient staff together with a clean and healthy environment. For the price per night of the room - it was pleasing and I would use the establishment again if needs be. I ate in the restaurant and the food and drink was very good and nicely prepared. As is said, "every little helps"!

Pros: Location to Gatwick Airport really convenient.
Cons: Moving smoking area away from the front door reception area. Allows for smoke to fill the elevators in the hotel.
Stayed here the night prior to an early flight next morning, room was comfortable and rate was very reasonable.

You get what you pay for, I think I paid too much.

Pros: The convenience from the airport. The restaurant served very good food. The reception was able to accommodate me, even though I checked in early.
Cons: Better housekeepers. Ones that are concerned about the appearance of the hotel and actually like their job.
The bed was comfortable, however the mattress had visible soiled spots. I think the housekeepers are doing the bare minimum. Yes the hotel is dated, but the housekeepers aren't even taking the time to wipe down the walls where coffee stains appear when people make coffee on the desk. That's a basic thing that could help. There was strands of hair left in my bathtub. That's kinda gross, no one wants to see that when they check into a room. If the housekeeper had just slowed down to look at her handy work after she finished cleaning the bathroom, she would have seen that. The housekeepers seemed more concerned with what the hotel can do for them, instead of what they can do for the hotels and the guests. From the outside looking in, they just appear lazy. I hate to generalize them collectively, because there probably are some really good ones and my only experience is from my one night in my room. However, it doesn't make me want to go back. The a/c in the room didn't work, but I was able to call the reception and he delivered a fan to me immediately…so I believe the staff is trying to make a difference.
