Lovely hotel, staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast, fantastic choice, staff very attentive replenishing and clearing away regularly. The room was really clean and it’s in a lovely area close to the tube. The downside was that it was extremely loud - I am a heavy sleeper so I don’t usually worry about noise - but I could feel everyone’s doors closing around me, it would startle me multiple times during the night. Could hear the person in the room next to me on the phone. I booked in advance but when I came to reception to check in, I waited a long time and then finally when someone came and I said I was checking in, she looked at me an said ‘how old are you?!’ which I thought was so odd and bit abrupt? I am in my early thirties… I look quite young for my age but I definitely do not look like a child/teenager….. It just made the experience very awkward.

Turns out it’s not a. 4* hotel. Three at best. Very basic facilities, portable heaters to keep you warm. Incredibly small rooms with no frills. Not the friendliest welcome, not as much as a hello, how are you. Initially got out in a horrid room on the ground floor overlooking a pub. Second room was upstairs, but was depressing. Won’t be staying again.

I wasn't expecting 5 star treatment... but have to say stay wasn't great. Shower barely worked - trickle... bed wasn't comfortable and noises during the night from old pipework... staff were v kind and helpful. Shame the property doesnt match up.

Worst experience in best wester hotel
The TV did not work. The toilette was not clean, the soap bottle in the shower and in the sink could not get the soap out. The box of tissues was empty and when I ask for more, i receive the answer that I need to go down to take them. I complaint about that and i received a message that i was being rude. Rude because after all of those thinks I was requesting a good service?. A lot of doors to get into the room. It was very uncomfortable with luggage. The place is not prepared for that. On the other hand..it is a good location to get into many places in London but definitely, based on the attention, it is something that we need to consider in the future. I was a lot of very good experiences in the best western hotels, but now, that was not the case. I think I can let to try different option for my staying during the week of Dec 11th

The room that we booked eas given to another guest prior to our arrival and all that they could offer was a smaller room. After discussion a discount was promised but 7 days on no refund has been received and no answer to my email requesting the payment. Our room was a lot,lot smaller than what's shown in the pictures, our room also had a beautiful a view of a vent too. However, its perfectly adequate for a night or two, stay in london..very quiet and very clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

It’s nice but has a few things that let it down. This time the bathroom fan wouldn’t switch off and also the ventilation system outside my open window was so noisy. The view from the window was just a vent. Odd dried floral flower arrangements and a strange perfumed smell. Shower dial had a part broken off. The radiator on bathroom was far too hot to touch. Odd sheet on bed arrangement where the sheet edge was open half way down the mattress. Staff friendly and welcoming.

Excellent value, very comfortable room, good size for a single! Perfect location. "Gym" disappointing - just a cross-trainer and treadmill in a tiny basement room! Excellent shower. One complaint was that I received 3 emails just before and after checking in, plus a phone call to my room asking if all was ok. Really, overkill! It just irritated me! Also receptionist seemed bored out of his mind, reading from a script. Not genuine friendliness, sorry.

Air conditioner was broken. Receptionist refused to upgrade me even though I am a vip member and the listing is listed as a vip access hotel, with a complimentary upgrade available. I checked online and there were numerous rooms available

Pros: very walkable distant from the Paddington station to the hotel, and another train line which I forgot the name, excellent breakfast buffet, the areas surrounding the hotel has plenty of food choices, and Hyde Park is literally next door. Cons: first hotel I ever stayed at that the A/C went out... the staff offered a fan so it helped but then... No A/C can be a bit uncomfortable for a lot of peeps, luckily I'm from a hotter environment usually.

Location was good. Smallest room we ever had. Staff not too friendly. Steps to get in were not friendly, very steep. No large entrance. I had bigger bathroom on a cruise ship ( on an interior cabin). One tiny elevator to get up and down, had to take it twice just to get luggage up and down. Should at least had coffee in the morning..but nothing.but a basement buffet for 20 pounds each that’s 25…50 for two US dollars. We always went out to little cafes just around corner and got breakfest for less than 20 dollars for two.

Extremely tiny uncomfortable rooms, difficulty to move luggage in narrow corridors and super small staircase. Air-condition/climate is controlled only by front desk staff. They turn off A/C at night and guests need to call if they're too hot.

The room very small Air conditioning was not working at all one of the hottest days in London we asked for a fan which took 7 hours to arrive no mention of this problem when we booked The hot water would not run to cold on cold tap & No bottlevwater provided either & No Fridge in room either very poor Staff lovely not there fault but not good situation

Think twice when booking this hotel in the summer
I didn't expect much from this place, since it is kind of on a cheaper side, but to not even have fan in a room was way below my expectation. I understand not wanting to invest in air conditioning in London (still 32C is unbearable), but come on, just buy a cheap desk fan for your tiny rooms!!! Don't be so greedy.

Great hotel
Really nice Hotel , excellent breakfasts, close to Lancaster Gate tube. Hyde Park is 2 minutes walk to the Beautiful gardens with fountains. Holland Park has a lovely Japanese garden just a short bus ride away.

OK for overnight, but basement room had no wifi
For a last minute hotel booking between my inbound international flight and my next day train, the hotel did the job. I have just two comments: 1. The wifi did not reach my room in the basement, which meant that I burned through roaming data to do things on my phone. 2. Basement rooms are so horrible, and i did not like the room at all. I know that it is putting a space to use, but I just don’t like horrid below street rooms.
