“"will go back "”
The Phoenix is part of the Best Western Chain...My room (single) though small (but larger than the last room I had in London )was clean, good shower and plenty of hot water. Liked the breakfast room, start out the day with coffee, tea.assorted rolls, fruits ,ham and cheeses, more than adequate.Staff pleasant and a friendly "Good Morning"..Close to two tube stations which whisk you off anywhere in the city . Buses go straight down Bayswater Road (3 blocks from hotel)will drop you off right in front of Selfridges for some shopping along Oxford Street. Enjoyed my stay.
“It's OK”
More or less exactly what was expected. A bit above average hotel for an average price.
“Well priced, not intended to be luxury, met expectations”
The Phoenix Hotel is a good value hotel option. If you are expecting a high-end luxury property, you obviously aren't going to find it here. But if you want a good-quality, good-budget hotel that is highly accessible to central London, put this on your list. The lobby is simple and fine looking. The hotel staff are polite, friendly, not over-the-top. My requests (iron/ironing board; extra towel) were dealt with quickly and with no hesitation. The hotel includes a continental breakfast of breads, fruit, cereal, toast, yogurt, juices, etc., and it is fine in quality. Not great, but not bad. Considering it is included, no complaints. My single room was predictably small. A bed, a small wardrobe w hangers, a small nightstand and a desk. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the duvet was decent quality (and warm). The bathroom was very small, typical for a European hotel. Again, you want tons of space, pay for it. I found that the Phoenix was HOT almost the entire time I was there - the breakfast room was sweltering one AM, the lobby was always hot, and I left my window open (about 12 inches - it had stoppers) almost the entire time, even though the heat was off. I would imagine in summer it is hot here. The neighborhood is safe and very accessible - about 2 mins from Bayswater tube and another 4 from Queensway. Decent pub named the Prince Edward nearby (take a left out of the main door and go 2 blocks). All in all, very few complaints.
“Really disappointed”
Run down, dingy and the smallest room I've ever stayed in. I couldn't wait to get out of the place in the morning and I stayed out as late as possible so that I wasn't in the room. The common areas are remarkably bad.
“No frills but good.”
Hotel has no frills, but is very close to tube and bus lines. Great place to stay if you're in London to see the sites and don't plan on spending allot of time in the hotel. Local neighborhood full of a variety of shops and restaurants. Single room with twin size bed is very small but after a long day of site seeing the bed was comfortable and the room clean. The staff appeared to speak many different languages which brought in people from all over the world. I would stay there again and hope to do so on my next trip. I have spent more for less in New York & Chicago.
“Tiny room”
This room was so small they had to mount the TV on a wall. It was difficult to walk around the bed, especially in the dark. The shower and wash basin were tiny. On the plus side, the breakfast was very good and the hotel location was excellent, 2 blocks from the Underground. I would not stay there again.
“Overall Satisfied”
Good hotel for the surrounding area and for a couple of nights. The bathroom was american-size compared to the other hotel reviews I read!! The size of the room was also nice as well compared to other reviews. Overall, nice stay. We weren't in the hotel much, but it served its purpose.
“a good option for budget business travel”
Good hotel, good service, good wi-fi connection. Great location. Though breakfast is not that peaceful since the woom is always overcrowded.
“Wonderful location”
This is an older hotel in a wonderful location. Not everything is perfect, as should be expected in many European hotels, but a great value, welcoming and helpful staff. Breakfast was better than other small hotels I've stayed, and will not hesitate to stay again.
“good value for the money”
It was quiet (our room faced a park across the street). The breakfast was good. Staff was polite. Wireless internet in the room was dependable. Beautiful Kensington Park was a few minutes walk away, as was the Bayswater tube station. We have stayed at hotels such as the Oriental in Bangkok, and the Yak and Yeti in Kathmandu. The Bayswater Phoenix is certainly not in that league. However, as a relatively inexpensive place to sleep in the heart of London, we thought that it was a good value for the money.
