“Excellent location, decent room by London standards”
We stayed just one night and were lucky enough to get a room on the top floor facing out on Cromwell Rd., so we got plenty of light from the street. The room was Executive Standard size, which is big by London hotel room standards but still small by US standards. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had one light out but was otherwise fine. The room was a bit stuffy when we got there but we turned on the a/c and it cooled things down enough. The only problem was that one of the two elevators was broken so we had to go through this maze of hallways to use the other one, and I was worried it would break down, too--it's really tiny and kind of slow going up and down. Breakfast i s not complimentary here, although they do have serve it, it was 9-12 pounds (about $15-20), so we skipped it and got food from the Waitrose supermarket right across the street. There are also bakeries a block away and a 24 hour Tesco Express if you need any food. Overall, pretty good hotel, for a decent price, in a great neighborhood.
“Never again.”
Unless you're a buisnessman with a suit and 2 shirts in your lugagge, for a 2 night stay, don't go there. Rooms are so tiny i couldn't open my lugagge. Stayed in the 5th floor, the elevator goes up to the 4th and the recepcionist asked if i wanted someone to help me if i needed so... i had 2 very heavy bags... The shower flooded after less than 2 min. Not a figure of speech, less than 2 min! And the shower delivered a ridiculous(very little) amaount of water, it was unbeliavable! Location is good, there is free wi-fi and that's all. I'll never go back.
“Small rooms...nice staff...great locations”
This hotel was in a great location. The rooms were extremely small, my daughter had to step on the bed to move around the room with her suitcase open. The staff was friendly and helpful.
“Last night in London”
Other than the fact that the room was rather cramped, my wife and I have no complaints. On the positive side, the location is great, especially for getting to Heathrow or the West End.
“Very convenient location”
Five minutes from the tube station with shopping and restaurants across the street. The room was very small, but still a good deal in London. My only complaint would be the desk staff when we arrived. He acted as though we were interrupting him to check in.
“Great hotel and location; would go back for sure”
We found the hotel to be perfect for us. The room is small, but the bed comfortable with extra pillows. The location is great, lots of restaurants, grocery stores and the underground within easy walking. We recommend Thai and Indian restaurants. Internet was free and the hotel provided shampoo, conditioner and lotion. We stayed at another hotel in this same area and were dissatisfied. We would definitely stay at this hotel for any future stays in London.
“Best Wester Gloucester”
Fabulous locaiton but was given a room in the basemen that was difficult to move around it because it was so small. Light flickered but housekeeping never bothered to fix it, Heard pipes banging in the walls at all hours. Having said that, it was better than staying at a hostel which would probably be the only accomodation that would have been less expensive. If you are traveling on a tight budget, this hotel has a great location of the Piccadilly line and it is clean. I wouldn't expect the Best Western that you may be used to in the States - or in other countries for that matter.
“Great location, wonderful neighborhood!”
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is wonderful; you are less than a block away from the tube and there are many stores, restaurants and pubs. The neighborhood was beautiful; quiet, visually stunning, and great for walks. The hotel itself was wonderful. Our bathroom was brand new. The room was small but it had everything; the bed was hard but it worked well for us. I have stayed in other hotels in London but nothing can compare to this one...will definitely go back!
“Excellent Location”
Small and dark rooms, but very well located and friendly
“South Kensington great, but there are better places to stay”
We were very disappointed with our stay at BW Cromwell; we are used to traveling to Europe and the UK, we so are accustomed to small hotel rooms, but as other reviews suggest, the rooms here are beyond just small. They are tiny, literally a double size bed, a desk and chair, and 1 foot space in between on any given side. You have to turn sideways to negotiate around the room, and if both people need to move about the room, one person has to either go into the bathroom or climb onto the bed to allow the other person to move about. If you are claustrophobic you might lose it! We also had a problem with the phone; it never worked our entire stay of 4 nights. We are caretakers for our mother in law/mother back in the states, so it was important to us to have use of a phone. When we first checked in and checked the phone, we informed the front desk that it did not work. They were very friendly and promised to pass it on to maintenance the next day but the problem was not addressed. We repeated this process each day we stayed there with the same results. The staff was always friendly and seemed concerned but were unable to get any results or inform us as to the status of our phone repair. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and our room was on the floor below the ground floor so it was very quiet. It was also in a great location, across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station and a Waitrose grocery store.
