Sloane Street Hotel

Posted Jan 26, 2014
Pros: Location! walking distance to Tube stations and the Victoria and Albert Museum!
Cons: Restore the included continental breakfast.
Location: As above - Kensington Museum and attractions - King's Road, ditto - and Chelsea, which is a delightful area of London.
I stayed at this hotel in January 2013 and found it extremely agreeable. Returning in January 2014, the hotel seems to have had a change of management and direction. Gone is the free Continental breakfast and my room faced into a light shaft. It is, however, a very genteel and quiet (except if your room borders the elevator, as mine was) hotel. The staff is first rate and the public spaces are generous and welcoming.

Things have changed

Posted Jan 21, 2014
Pros: The location was very near the Victoria & Albert Museum and to Underground stops. The hotel is elegant in an Edwardian way: Oscar Wilde stayed there.
Cons: Please bring back the rate-included Continental Breakfast.
Location: The hotel is only a block away from Harrod's and 2 blocks from King Street, a major shopping street in Chelsea. Museums & restaurants abound.
In January 2013 I spent a week at the Cadogan Hotel in an opulent front room overlooking Sloane Avenue and the park opposite the hotel. This year I was squirreled away in a tiny room with a single bed and a view of the light well - at a higher price. Last year Continental Breakfast was included in the room rate. This year it was 16 pounds extra, so I grabbed a yoghurt at a cafe, But the hotel charged me for a breakfast that I didn't eat on each day that I stayed. Challenged, the bill was changed, but not to my satisfaction. I would probably stay there again, since it is convenient to museums where I do research. But I would arrive forewarned, and disappointed, having experienced the earlier incarnation of this lovely hotel.

Bedroom extremely small. Hardly any space for lagguage. Gym situated in an extremely small room with a few machines only. The glamourous picture in the internet does not reflect how the facilities look like at all. Hotel staff extremely well educated and helpful, though.

First experience at Cadogan Hotel

Posted Oct 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
My husband and I enjoyed our short stay. The location was ideal, half way between Kings road and Knightsbridge. Quiet area but within walking distance to Hyde/Kesington Parks, restaurants and well-known shops and departmental stores. The hotel is typically English, with an old-fashioned elevator. The patrons were mature people so it was quiet too within the hotel. The only snag was the lack of a kettle and insufficient lighting in our room. Nevertheless, we found the Cadogan more than satisfactory.

Understated, elegant hotel with character

Excellent Knightsbridge location with an understated, quiet elegance. Only negative is darkness of some rooms which staff kindly and quickly addressed by offering me alternative, brighter rooms. Staff is cheerful and professional. Did not eat at the hotel, but the cozy bar and tea areas were in keeping with the lovely character of the hotel. In general, The Cadogan Hotel is a refreshing alternative to the character-less monotony and robotic qualities of the best, 5-star "chain" hotels.
