Christmas weekend in LondonPosted Jan 9, 2014
Cons: Updating rooms
Location: Opposite Holloway prison (!). Camden Road station and market nearby
Needed a reasonably priced place to sleep on a weekend visit to London to catch up with my youngest son who lives there. Booked a room with 3 single beds to accommodate me, my husband and 24 year old son. Hotel is advertised as providing cooked / continental breakfast. On arrival, a very nice lady showed us to our room which was on the second floor, during which we spotted that the dining area seemed to have a flood and there was work taking place. Room itself looked tired, three singles beds provided as advertised but we were unable to use one as it was as hard as concrete. Tea and coffee facilities were provided along with a fridge ( this was useful for keeping milk cool ). Key was provided for a separate external door which meant we could avoid walking through the bar to get to our room. The hotel is on Camden Road and this proved to be quite noisy during the night but I suppose we can't blame the hotel for that ! Overall, its a basic, cheap and cheerful place to stay.....bit disappointed that we didn't get a cooked breakfast ( we came back from a meal out to find two slices of white bread and some sliced cheese on three clingfilm wrapped plates and some meats in our fridge ) . Don't expect the Ritz for the price but it was clean, could do with a bit of an update though !

I would come again!Posted Nov 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed with my daughter and her friend and we loved it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding (delicious omellettes!). It was a good location, close to busses and underground, shops, grocery, pharmacy, restaurants. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Location: was further from Camden town than we thought, but was only a very quick journey from hotel to centre by bus
staff extremely friendly and helpful from start to leaving. Would have preferred on-suite but quite acceptable for price paid to not have one. Lovely quality breakfast ! would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.

Location, price, staff this has it all!Posted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Everything! Location, Transport, staff, room size and quality of room.
Only stayed here for 1 night but it was an awesome place to stay in. Location was great to get around north London and only a short taxi to King's Cross St Pancras international and domestic rail station. 7/8 minutes to caladonian rd tube station and right on a main bus thoroughfare. Room was surprisingly large as we only paid about 60pounds for a 3 bed room. Beds were super comfy with all the amenities and fast free wifi. excellent free breakfast with wait staff friendly and helpful. We turned up about 3 hours early before check in and the staff could not be anymore accommodating with getting us into a room so we can head off to a tour. Do not think twice about booking this hotel for the price alone

Not bad for a budget B&BPosted Oct 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed here for a week on business in London, struggled to find a decent hotel within my budget. Not bad for the price, comfortable and clean. Breakfast is served from 8am , although I have heard its decent I did not get time to eat in the morning as had to be out by 7.30 to get to work. The rooms are above a noisy pub, however I was quite lucky to stay in a top floor room, however I cant imagine people in the lower level rooms did not get much peace before midnight. Bathrooms are shared , which was not all that bad as there where only 3 rooms on my floor, the shower was very good. The bed was made every day and coffee and tea topped up, also had a fridge in the room which was quite handy. Closest tube is Caledonian Road , which is about a ten minute walk. I did not have time to check out the local restaurants or pubs , however there is a good Indian takeaway opposite the hotel. Top tip - ask for a top floor room :)

Simple and great stayPosted Oct 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
From Castle Bar it's easy to get a bus, or walk to the railway station. I stayed in room 10, which is the last room on the top floor so I had a nice ceiling window to pop open on a nice day. The free breakfast is home-made and amazing! Anything I asked for they had, such as hairdryer, or iron. There was a fridge in the room where I could store fruit/juice and tea was provided in the room On arrival the staff helped me carry my heavy bags upstairs which was great service. It's a cute hotel, with a pub downstairs and a seafood restaurant with fresh seafood - I sampled all of them and found it pretty decent. The staff at breakfast, or in the pub, or in the seafood restaurant were all friendly and chatty. The free WiFi was really handy. This isn't 5 star, but a cute and convenient BnB style hotel. Shared bathrooms weren't a problem, as there aren't many rooms so they aren't always busy or dirty, it was all well kept. Note that the building is old, so you get a few bumps in the night and creaky doors and stairs. But overall I enjoyed my stay ... I was visiting London so I didn't want to sit around in my room all day. I recommend this place if you're looking for something cheap and simple but with great service and in-room amenities (for the price).
