“Excellent location for Insurance Business”
Great value and withing a walking distance to Insurance Industry in London including Lloyds. One day had some problems with the Wi-Fi service but it was fixed and worked flawlesly for the rest of my stay.
“Pleased”
No complaints.
“Comfort near the Tower Bridge”
Excellently located near London's famed Tower Bridge and the London Tower, the Chamberlain has close access to the Tube's District and Circle lines -- a necessity for London travel. Courteous staff, comfortable quarters, and unlimited internet access makes for a home-away-from-home experience.
“Dissappointed - Key on Door was not operational - Would not go back”
The electronic key did not work on my door and every time I had to enter the room it took 1/2 hour for the maintenance people to provide me entrance. I found this inconvenience to be thoroughly annoying as I was short on time. Also elevator was broken so had to walk 5 flights of stairs on several occasions. Hotel did not offer discounts for inconvenience. Also, during late evenings, there wasn’t any restaurants in close proximity.
“Recommend highly”
Everything went very well. The attached pub was a nice place to convene at the end of the day or to meet with friends in the area.
“Great for Business Travelers”
Convenient location between two tube stops (Tower Hill and Aldgate); enough small shops and restaurants in area to satisfy basic needs (but not a touristy area). Rooms are comfortable, tho some of the beds are uncomfortably soft. Rooms are spacious (for a London hotel) and bathrooms are large and comfortable. Floor plan of hotel is eclectic, and each room is different. Rooms numbered -01 can be noisy from the pub below; a few rooms have windows that are too high to be seen out or that do not open (bad for people with claustrophobia). The hotel staff was very accomodating about requests to switch rooms. (Hotel staff generally was very nice and very helpful.) Free Wi-Fi in the rooms; free computer & printer in lobby. Good hotel restaurant. Breakfasts are somewhat expensive, but there are lots of other options in the area (including a Starbucks across the street.) I will definitely return.
“Quiet location”
The rooms are very small and the televisions are old, reception was bad. This hotel is located in a business district and the pubs can be loud during the week. It's much quieter on the weekends. Far from most of the sights but an easy ride on the Underground. Close to the Tower Hill stop. Walking distance to the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral and St. Katherine's Dock which has nice restaurants. Great location if you want to be away from the action.
“Great place to stay while doing business in the City.”
I enjoy staying at this hotel when I am working in the City of London. It is a small, boutique type of a hotel and conveniently located to everything in the City. The rooms are very comfortable and as with most hotels in London, the rooms are quite small.
“great location”
overall, it was a very good hotel. it was clean and the staff was very accomodating. it was in walking distance to the tower of london and tower bridge.
“AVOID AT ALL COSTS”
Avoid this hotel at all costs if you are accustomed to fine service, warm hospitality and comfortable bedding (matresses are of very sub-standard), (noise and vibrations from nearby trains distrurbing even with ear plugs) . This hotel is run by untrained, unknowledgeable staff who are oftentimes rude and even unbelievably hostile. Hotel is more interested in obtaining daily credit card pre-authorizations indebiture guarantees than in guaranteeing you a comfortable and trouble-free stay. At every turn there was a problem and little or no good will. This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at in over 45 years of world travel. Extremely LOW CLASS all around.
