Good hotel for Greenwich & the o2

Posted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: location, price, breakfast included
Cons: Some of the staff could be a bit more welcoming.
Location: Greenwich Park, o2, Excel, Blackheath, short journey to station & central London (there was a fair in front of hotel when we got there which was nice)
We stayed here as we had a show at the o2, it was easy to get to with the bus stop right in front if the hotel for a 15 minute bus ride. If you book through the hotel you get a free return bus ticket to the o2. Couldn't get parking outside so parked opposite Blackheath Station for £6 for the afternoon (parking rates until 6.30 only and free on a Sunday so wasn't too bad really) you can just take a left after the hotel and there are steps going down to the car park so only a few minutes walk. The hotel has very few parking spaces. Reception staff on the saturday afternoon were not overly friendly, though Sunday morning the reception and breakfast staff were great and very helpful. The room was small but fine, bed comfy though we only had one bedside table which we found strange! There was a wedding which was very loud but we didn't get in until after 11 and to be fair the music was off dead on 12. We thought the breakfast, which is in with your room price was fantastic, huge choice, including choices off buffet and very tasty. Short walk to Greenwich through the park. Overall a decent hotel for the price.

Ideal Location

Location: fireworks, small fair in the park across the street, a short walk to Greenwich, a short walk to the train to get into London
The park across the street allowed access to events and the small pubs and shops close by.

Good value for money but no air conditioning

Posted Jul 27, 2013
Pros: Great value.
Cons: Room was too hot. No air conditioning.
Location: Great location and easy to find.
Hotel is dated but excellent value for money. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning so the room was too hot and therefore uncomfortable to sleep in. Breakfast was timely which enabled me to make my early morning meeting.

The Old Man of the Heath

Posted Jul 18, 2013
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Noisy water system and traffic
Location: Attractive and convenient
The hotel is a little 'tired', and in need of modernisation, but made much more pleasant by the helpful and attentive staff. The best feature is the dining room - excellent food and service.

Good value

Posted Feb 16, 2013
Great location, helpful, friendly staff, comfy bed, good breakfast. Negatives: the room wreaked of stale smoke and the washbasin is tiny with a shelf over it which makes it almost impossible to clean teeth without getting water everywhere. However, we love everything else about the hotel and use it whenever we visit London as it's only twenty minutes overland train to Charing Cross.

Comfortable bed. Excellent location. Plenty of bars etc within minutes and short walk through to Greenwich. Bonus having parking on site.
