Not all hotels are relaxingPosted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Staff were nice
Cons: Elevators; allow alcohol; have competent workers available in case of emergencies; make two rooms into one
Location: Close to Hyde Park; location is good
No elevator for a section of hotel (climb 60 steps with luggage); tiny rooms; electricity went out with no one to fix it - had to dress and pack in dark; hotel gave me taxi rate for airport (50 £) but driver showed me text message from hotel quoting higher rate (60£). Alcohol is not offered in hotel, so if you are tired and want to relax with a drink, you have to go out somewhere else.

Loved it, clean, friendly and comfortable.Posted Aug 30, 2014
Was given free drinks, also left money in the bedroom after checking out. They kept it behind the reception for me and we're very helpful.

Nice hotel, great location.Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: A few updates in decor, perhaps.
Location: This was the best part about this hotel. It was close to Hyde Park and public transportation. Close to restaurants and shops.
The hotel was in a great location. Some wear and tear, but to be expected for such an old building. That somewhat added to its charm. No restaurant in the hotel, but nice places within walking distance. The staff was helpful and willing to correct errors in billing, to help with cab arrangements, directions, etc. The location was great - right across from Hyde Park, close to restaurants and train stations. Air conditioned rooms were a plus. Reasonable price compared to some other hotels I checked out. Would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Quiet and comfortable
Cons: Plumbing in need of servicing in the shower
Location: Ideal for restaurants, Hyde Park and tube stations
This hotel is close to Bayswater Road and Hyde Park in a quiet area of Lancaster Gate. Pleasant staf and reasonable room. Ideally situated for all the restaurants in Quensway

Close to the underground tubePosted Aug 3, 2014
My room was small, nice and cozy! Very different in terms of space. It faced a beautiful old church, which made for a nice view.

First, a few positive things: the hotel is in a beautiful location right near Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The exterior and interior of the hotel look beautiful. Now the cons: my toilet did not flush for the entire week I stayed there. I told the staff about it everyday (once in the morning and again at night as a reminder) and they didn't even attempt to fix it or even take a look at it! They did not care at all that I did not have a working toilet! The staff would just put on a fake concerned face every time I reminded them and say they would look at it and get it fixed. I had to walk to a public restroom every single time I needed to go! NOT impressed with that AT ALL! That's something I would expect from a hostel! Next, the carpet in my room was disgustingly filthy! The carpet was covered in all sorts of questionable looking stains and has crumbs and other debris on it. Also, the walls are paper thin and you can hear literally everything that happens in the rooms next to you. You also need to take the stairs to your room as the elevator (lift) only goes to the top floor and not any of the other floors. Lastly, my key card stopped working on the 3rd day and EVERY SINGLE time I wanted to go back to my hotel room I needed to get one of the front desk staff to get their special machine to unlock the door. And usually they would first make me try to open my room with my key card and of course it wouldn't work. It was just a nightmare...
