Nice hotel with convenient location

Location: Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall
Hotel is steps away from Hyde Park and Kensington Garden。 Very convenient easy access to public transit。We booked hotel + flight package from Expedia.ca and got a relatively good deal in early October due to the low season. We were assigned a half-basement room which was not exposed much to the sun. Room is tiny,but fortunately bed is not that small although is was called standard double. Actual size should be equivalent to North American‘’s king size。 We went out early in the morning came back only for sleep late night so comfy is the most concern. Overall I would say we are satisfied with the stay except occasionally got bothered by the noise coming from the room next to . The room is clean. Location is good. Will recommend to other friends.

"This old hotel"

This old hotel is so old that you can hear people talking in other rooms, going to the bathroom, toilets flushing in the middle of the night, the doors slam and the whole building shakes! It's terrible! The beds mattress is as old as the hotel. My room was for a single person and it resembled none of the hotels photo's....dingy, icky carpet and the blanket on the base of the bed was neatly folded but had throw up on it when I opened it. My tub had a Dirt ring around it, hairs on my toilet and sink, it was just gross! The hotel staff was kind and wonderful but didn't understand basic English so asking for a new comforter was a challenge as they brought another blanket. The maids cleaned but still never washed the tub or changed my sheets. I will never go back or book a room without going directly through the hotel (not this one), as you cannot change a prepaid expedia room!

Expedia reservation not good

We had problems because when we reserved we saw breakfast included annd after we paid, the breakfast was removed. The hotel gave us very bad rooms and their reason is that expedia is paying them little mony. The staf later gave us better rooms.

Very disappointing 4 Star Hotel.

Location: Good location for all major sights.
Got off to a bad start when told breakfast not included when Expedia info suggests otherwise. Hotel promised to resolve with Expedia but never really sorted. After first day we were told that we wouldn't be charged for that days breakfast as a gesture of good will until matter resolved. Apparently having difficulty getting hold of someone at Expedia. Despite this, on departure, we had to pay extra for 4 English breakfasts taken on the first 2 days. Had continental on the 3rd and final day which was not charged for. We were in Room 503. This is not my idea of 4 star accommodation and I am shocked that it has been rated as such by the AA! It was a pokey little room with a pokey little bathroom. There were stains on the carpet, the sink plug was broken and the fan in the bathroom was filthy. The general decor was poor. A refurbishment definitely needed. We had a small wardrobe but the top shelf was taken up by a safe (which was locked on arrival so we had to get someone to open it), whilst the bottom was taken up with a minibar. We had small bedside drawers and similar sized ones in the desk/dressing table, okay for socks, pants etc but no use for shirts, sweaters etc.. Consequently we never unpacked but lived out of our suitcases. There was nowhere to store the cases either even under the beds so they had to stand in the main thoroughfare between beds and bathroom. Very disappointing to say the least. Spoiled a lovely few days in London.

Dated but charming

Booked this hotel as it was close to an evening function venue and chances were, we won't make the last train. An early check-in attempt failed but staff were very helpful and upon return in the late afternoon, all was taken care of swiftly. The hotel certainly has seen better days, that is to say though that despite the occasional threadbare patch and water mark, care has been taken and the room as well as bathroom were spotlessly clean to the eye. I was most surprised by the generous size of the room although understand that not all were as comfortably large. The full English breakfast next morning was yet an other (positive!!!) surprise, for a) the little amount charged (compared to the usual ridiculous mark-ups) and b) choice. All in all very positive.

Pros: location
Cons: Repair washroom, allow customers to set room temperature. If possible open the closed bar or remove it from the publicite for the hotel.
Location: great access to tube and buses
free wireless, however only works every other day. Says the have a bar and mini bar in all rooms. Well no bar no alcohol in the mini bar. Counter in the bathroom was painted white some time ago, first time I have ever seen someone paint a counter. No air conditioning the rooms, the control is not accessible to the customer, hotel sets temperature and decides to activate the air conditioning or not. In our case NOT. Location is great however for the same price look at one of the several other hotels nearby.

Excellent quiet location

Hotel location was wonderful. The neighborhood was quiet and you can get to the paddington train station or the underground in just a few minutes of walking. The hotel wax not in the greatest shape but it wasn't bad. The worst issue were the old creaky floors and thin walls you can hear every step guests take in the room above you among other things. It was very difficult to get to sleep.

London in one week

The first day when I arrived in the hotel at 10 am instead of check in at after long time waiting I got in my room at 5pm which was horrible but other than that Marcella which is the receptionist was a sweet heart and also the guy who help you with your luggegg was so helpfull and nice. If there is a second time i go to this hotel just because merclla is very nice person and helpfull and location is so close to the metro.

Not all hotels are relaxing

Pros: Staff were nice
Cons: Elevators; allow alcohol; have competent workers available in case of emergencies; make two rooms into one
Location: Close to Hyde Park; location is good
No elevator for a section of hotel (climb 60 steps with luggage); tiny rooms; electricity went out with no one to fix it - had to dress and pack in dark; hotel gave me taxi rate for airport (50 £) but driver showed me text message from hotel quoting higher rate (60£). Alcohol is not offered in hotel, so if you are tired and want to relax with a drink, you have to go out somewhere else.
