Budget hotel in an expensive city

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Cons: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE install Air Conditioning into your hotels room. I thought this was a standard requirement in this day and age.
My husband & I stayed at the Days Hotel Waterloo in July 2014. Overall, it's a pretty simple hotel to stay at - clean, safe, and accessible. Pros: short walk to the Lambeth North station; clean hotel Cons: NO AC!! A small, portable fan was in the room for use (dusty, but it worked!); pretty musty in the halls and elevator; across the street from a police station (noisy sirens every now and then but not a terrible nuisance). Overall, the only major con for us was that there was no AC during the warm time we were visiting London.

good hotel pretty close from the touristic center

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: handy to find and close from the center of London. great to be able to leave our suitcase before we checked in
Cons: air conditionning as we had to sleep the window open and the street below is busy
Location: see above
We arrived around 10 a.m and left our suitcase then went to discover London all day. We came back around 9 p.m discover our room that was a big family room for us 4. Night ok but a bit Noisy as we had to sleep with the window open. we had breakfast at the hotel. breakfast correct.

it was ok but I wouldn't go back

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: staff
Cons: don't have tables for smokers outside bedroom windows
booked as a 'secret' hotel. Glad we didn't pay full price. requested twin, got double. our room had tables outside - people smoking and chatting at 11.30pm. They weren't particularly loud but we could hear them with window closed. Staff unable to give us an alternative room but did move the other guests on. Bedding seemed clean but tables were a bit dusty - even the milk cartons had a layer of dust on them. the washbasin was tiny (accessible bathroom) - water everywhere just trying to brush teeth and wash face. Staff friendly and as helpful as they could be in the circumstances beyond heir control. Didn't try breakfast.

Short Stay in London

Posted Aug 13, 2014
This hotel is conveniently positioned near London Eye and Westminster. Although a little old now is was perfect base for sleeping and sightseeing. Staff were friendly and helpful. The weather was hot for UK and really could have done with Air-con but rest is OK.

Too hot

Posted Jul 29, 2014
This hotel has no cooling for hot summer days. Much hotter in the room than in the corridor or outside. Moved to an air-conditioned hotel.

Good location

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pleasantly surprised by this hotel, the room was a decent size for a London hotel. The location was good and just a few minutes walk to the nearest underground. We stayed a couple of nights and had a disappointing start to each morning, 5.45am is obviously when the hotels bin collection and deliveries take place, being so hot in the room the windows had to be open however for half an hour all you can hear is noise and deliveries! Not the best start to each day - having told the receptionist staff they weren't very concerned and my experience was met by a shrug of the shoulders! The cleaning staff however were very friendly!

Pleasant hotel close to Lambeth North Tube station

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Location is useful with Tube station and Waterloo within easy reach
Cons: Air conditioning in rooms.
Location: Imperial War Museum opposite, and Houses of Parliament within 30 minutes walk. Also along Thames towards London Eye. Bus stops outside.
This hotel is just 5 minutes walk from Lambeth North Tube Station and opposite the Imperial War Museum, at a busy road junction. Its about 25 min walk to Waterloo Station and to the Thames near Lambeth & Westminster Bridges. The rooms are only medium sized, but clean and comfortable, small bathroom but a good shower cubicle with plenty hot water. TV in room and Tea and Coffee making facilities. Bed was a small double, comfortable though foam pillows which I personally don't like! No air conditioning, we found the room rather too warm at night, and whilst you could open the double glazed windows, traffic noise was disturbing. Good location with simple access into City Centre via Tube and bus, and reasonable price for London. We did not have breakfast here, so cannot comment on its quality.

From the madding crowd

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Ideal location if you dont mind a 10 min stroll to the 'action'. Lambeth Tube is far closer than Waterloo. Room is adequate. New shower a big plus. Bed way too squidgy for my liking. Warm smallish space in July though - as window in bedroom has limited opening for safety reasons - but electric fan available. Bar facilities handy. Plenty of cafes nearby give other options for breakfast. (Nice one by Lambeth Bridge alongside the Thames). Overall, an ideal base, but not worth paying more than £100 or so per night.
