Good location

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Install air con
Location: Close to dlr and buses. Plenty of bars ans eati g places near by
Good location. Greenwich has plenty to see and do. Hotel was ok. Main problem is that there is no air con in the bedrooms and the tempretures have been so high for a while. The room was boiling

Excellent location

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Ice-machines on corridors (in the absence of minibars/fridges in the rooms).
Location: Its position next to the maritime museum & at the foot of Greenwich Park can not be bettered in Greenwich.
One night stay on a very hot day. Smallish room, top/4th floor, with bathroom but perfectly adequate for single occupancy. A fan was provided, which was handy. (Its conversion from a nurse's residence is pretty good and you can see why it is, above all else, a small conference venue. Decor & facilities are in keeping with training seminars, etc.)

Great for University of Greenwich Award Ceremony

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Ideal for visits to London and Greenwich University.
Cons: You would have to be unlucky or very picky to fault the hotel. Get a life... tomorrows another day.
Location: As we said ideal for Graduation at the University of Greenwich and visits to the local area.
Perfect for overnight stay. We stayed in 2 rooms on the Sunday night to make the following day less stressful. The hotel is idealy situated for the university a short walk of about 800 yards. Our daughters graduation went smooth and without any problems. The hotel provided car parking until we left the ceremoy, godsend as parking in the local area is difficult. Rooms are clean and roomy, beds are a little hard, but it is quite at night even with the windows open. We had an evening meal which was ok one of which was sent back to the kitchen, but we were not charged for. The breakfast the following morning was brilliant all you can eat with plenty to suit all tastes. Staff have been trained to a high standard and were always helpful and knowledgable. All in all a really good hotel with room rates better than some bed and breakfasts, free wi fi, and near to the centre of London.

nice hotel in a fantastic location

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: The reason for our stay was for its fantastic location. We found the hotel relaxing and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and professional.
Cons: The hotel looked tired in places and in need of refurbishment especially on the staircases and landings.
Location: The location of the hotel was fantastic. Minutes from great shops, restaurants and bars. The park, naval museum and observatory are right next door.
We arrived after an exhausting day attending a trade fair in central London. The journey to the hotel had been a little fraught as we had not expected to have to come out of the tube station at canary wharf and find the DLR station was in another location. The journey was made on a Sunday night, all information areas were closed and we were informed by another traveller that the station was automated and totally unstaffed. We eventually arrived in Greenwich and found the hotel very easily a few minutes walk from the tube station. The hotel was in a fantastic location next door to the park and observatory we visited the next day. Greenwich itself is a lovely area with an amazing selection of independent shops and restaurants as well as a great little market.

Excellent hotel

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Staff and where situated
Cons: Nothing
Location: O2, Cutty Sark, Greenwich Obseratory.
Stayed here for two nights and wished could have been longer. It's ideally situated for the O2, Greenwich Observatory and Cutty Sark. Has it's own car park. Hotel is spotless. Room very clean and tidy. Breakfast very good and helped by the senior breakfast supervisor Everton. What a character and lovely man. Infact ALL the staff very helpful, pleasant and a credit to the hotel. Will definitely return there again.

Beautiful building in great situation but....

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: The situation, the main building's architecture, rooms with high ceilings. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Cons: The decor was a bit tired - the bathrooms in particular needed upgrading. A blind cord was missing. Rooms were very hot on a pleasantly warm day.
Location: Right next to Royal Maritime Museum and at the foot of the hill where the Royal Observatory is situated. Close to Cutty Sark and Greenwich centre.
Our stay was good and the staff helpful but the building is a bit tired. The knob to control the shower temperature came off in my daughter's hand. There is no airconditioning and you can't open the windows very far. It still feels more like a training centre than a hotel.

Devonport House, Greenwich

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: Beautiful building, great location, easy access to the O2, clean room and pleasant staff.
Cons: Twin room was very small. Windows only opened a little way so it was quite stuffy. Limited breakfast choice for vegetarians.
Location: 15 min bus ride from O2, round the corner from Greenwich market, Cutty Sark & Maritime Museum. Lots of sights to see and close to public transport.
Stayed at the hotel as we were going to a concert at the O2. The O2 was about 15 min bus journey and the bus stop was a couple of minutes from the hotel. When the concert was over, it was very easy to get back - there were only about 10 people waiting for the bus as most people went home by tube!! The concert overran but this wasn't a problem as we were so close - so we didn't miss the encores and we didn't have to travel back with everyone else!! The room itself was on the small side but it was fine for one night and it was clean. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and had a look around Greenwich before making our way home. Greenwich is a beautiful part of London with the market, unique shops and nice pubs. It was a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely go there again!

Poor experience, service and facilities

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: Location in Greenwich
Cons: See above - very poor service and tired, inadequate facilities.
Location: O2/Cutty Sark
Tired rooms with no air conditioning. This would have been just about bearable, however:- We booked one double and one twin room as there were 4 of us, my wife, son and brother. Therefore we booked on Expedia, and one twin room in order to accommodate a teenager and his uncle. We checked-in after confirming our room details at reception - having quickly got changed in our rooms we left for a concert. At this point our son informed us he had a double room and wanted to know where his uncle would sleep (We were meeting him at the concert). We called the hotel only to be told it wasn't their problem as Expedia had not stipulated a twin room on the booking which I found difficult to understand as the booking was made many months previously and was confirmed as a twin room by Expedia. After a lot of debate we finally got to a position where, as there were no rooms available in the hotel we could either leave or put up with it, the receptionist (female) then conceded they could put another 'put-you-up' bed in the room. Having got back from the concert - no additional bed as promised. The night receptionist was now on duty and he took ownership and did a good job or sorting us out. Bearing in mind I had been up since 5.00am on the day of arrival and was due to be up again the next morning at 4.30am for a flight, this was a totally unacceptable level of service particularly as the rooms were charged at two fifty each per night- poor value.
