Great hotel for a family!

Pros: My favorite things about the hotel were its kitchen facilities and close proximity to a market.
Cons: My least favorite thing about the hotel were its beds.
Location: Great location! Close to shopping, gardens and parks, nice neighborhood.
The location is excellent, staff very helpful and pleasant, furnishings as described on their website. Overall, my family and I were very, very pleased with our experience with this hotel. I would stay there again without hesitation!

Awesome place to stay!

Pros: Free wifi, comfort of the room, proximity to the Bayswater Station and to grocery stores
My friend and I stayed here for a week and it was pretty awesome! The room was clean and they would give us clean towels daily. The free wifi was also great, considering we had just come from a hotel in Paris that had terrible wifi that would cut in and out at times. But here at the Grand Plaza, the internet connection was always strong. The only negative about this place was probably the long walk to our hotel room, but only because it consisted of us walking through at least 4 doors and multiple hallways to get to the lift. It did get easier to find our way in and out of the apartment building later on though so it was alright. Another plus to this hotel was that it was close to multiple grocery stores (Sainsburys, Tesco, Mark & Spencers) and it was in close proximity to the Bayswater station which is always good, considering it connects you to other lines as well:). If I'm going to London again in the future, I will definitely stay here again!

Good overall but with note of caution

Pros: The location. The continental breakfast (cheeses, meats, breads, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit, jams, honey, juice, coffee). Good showers. Mini-fridge.
Cons: Ground floor rooms on side have to deal with persons congregating outside windows and talking loudly most of the night. Very annoying.
Location: Very close to a bustling street with lots of restaurants. There is a small shopping mall with a cinema and bowling alley nearby. Close to tube station
We really liked the location of this hotel. Was close to restaurants, shops, and the tube station (Bayswater). Staff were friendly and helpful, . The continental breakfast each morning was excellent and breakfast staff could not have been nicer. The rooms overall were comfortable - good showers, good beds. Nice to have mini fridge in room. However: we were extremely disappointed in one aspect of our experience. When we arrived, front desk staff made a huge deal of having "upgraded" our room. Staff emphasized this fact several times and when we asked exactly what the upgrade was, she said our room slept 4 rather than two. We wondered why this was such a big deal since there were only two of us and we did not need to accommodate two additional people. Frankly, I was suspicious from the get-go. Turns out I was right. Our room faced a garden and was on ground level. Outside our window was a stoop. Next door to our room was a hostel that served youthful travelers who used the stoop right outside our window to congregate, smoke, drink, and talk loudly every night until well into the wee morning. We had to call the front desk several times and they called the police. We were really put out with this situation since we believe the hotel knew full well that this occurred frequently and other guests certainly had had to deal with this. We felt we were purposely put in this room under the guise of being "upgraded."

HOT

Pros: Good location.
Cons: See above
Location: Good transport connections near Kensington-Hyde park.
Room was OK. West facing and with late British sunsets, terribly hot from early afternoon until past midnight when outside temps above 70 which was most of our 4 night stay. No fans or AC. Also when we booked for 3 people in the room at the price that was quoted for 2 there was no change and I did not notice the total was 50 per cent higher. We got no extra space and a hidabed for 50 per cent over charge they would have gotten if there had been just two of us. Moral is ask for an east facing room in London in the summer if they don't have AC.

Grand Plaza does it well again
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Pros: Great beds, soft and large enough. A good night's sleep makes any other issue seem small.
Cons: Maintenance of fixtures. Loose tap handle, globe blown in bedside lamp.
Location: Bayswater and Queensway tubes close by. Supermarkets just up the road. Hyde Park and Portobello Rd within easy walking distance.
This is our third visit to this hotel. As previously, great staff, clean rooms and linen and very good room facilities. We will stay again.

Great hotel for a group or family
Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Sofa bed was awkward to put together
Location: Good- close to Bayswater tube and Hyde Park
Great location for Knightsbridge, Kensington, Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace etc. Good location for pubs, restaurants ( loads of them) shopping and street markets etc. Friendly and helpful staff: we stayed in a 4 bed executive studio apartment on the ground floor and slept very well. Didn't have enough towels/ linen set out for all 4 of us or bedding for the sofa bed: but we just called reception and when we got back from our night out- the soda bed was all made up and loads of extra towels were there. Because it was very busy it had a bit if a hostel vibe about it- but great for location, tube stops and travellers. Maybe not for a romantic break for a couple. Brilliant for convenience and good accommodation: with added benefit of kitchen/ fridge/ microwave etc for midnight snacks if you come out of a club late ....

The hotel is situated in good place. It is not very comfortable, but the stay was pleasant and hassle free and the service attentive.
