Terrible room in shoreditch

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Stayed in the holiday inn express in old street a few times but this was by far the worst. The room was incredibly noisy, floorboards creeked all night, tv and wifi stopped working for large periods of my stay. It was a v poor experience

convenient, cheap but noisy

Posted Nov 2, 2014
It is what it is, a budget hotel that presents good value for a family of four to visit London. near the tube, free breakfast and friendly staff. However, family room was tiny and the noise from outside over night was awful. It sounded like police camera action was being filmed. sirens. All. night. long.

Reasonable hotel

Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: Lovely room and ideal place.
Cons: Breakfast area needs more room and bigger!
Only stayed for one night. Room was clean and perfect. Only snag was the double bed mattress was so soft and of course hubby was sinking in the middle! Son slept in sofa bed (double) and had plenty of pillows but it creaked!! Although everything was good in the room. Breakfast was a nightmare........... very busy at 8.30am and hardly any cutlery was to be seen and they were running out of bread and juice at this time as it was jam packed. People had to eat their breakfast by the bar!

Chosen for Location and Convenience.

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: It is somewhat pricey for the level of accommodation offered. A wider range of toiletries, and brighter lighting in the room.
Location: It enjoys good public transport links to all London attractions.
Attending a Wedding at Shoreditch Town Hall, it was essential for us to find a Hotel nearby. The Holiday Inn Express was a bare 2 minutes walk away. They were obliging enough to allow an early check in to facilitate us changing into our Wedding gear. The room itself was reasonably spacious with comfortable beds, but there was only a relatively low level of lighting, which made the application of make-up, hair dressing, etc., difficult. It was also disappointing to find that the supply of toiletries was limited to dispensers of liquid soap and shower gel. Despite the room overlooking the ever-busy Old Street, it is triple-glazed so well that a police siren could only be faintly heard. The hotel is clearly mainly used by tourists, and despite it being very busy this particular weekend, there was no disturbance or noise where we were. In fact there was little sign of them at all until attempting to take breakfast in the morning. The breakfast menu was very comprehensive bearing in mind that only a continental breakfast was advertised. A comfortable no-frills stay, which was exactly what we needed. There is very limited hotel parking at £30 per day. Long term on-street parking is non-existent apart from limited times at weekends. A final word of caution. The hotel is 50 metres from the Congestion Charging Zone. Taking a wrong turn round the one-way systems could prove expensive during the week.

Nice and Central

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Had a good stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating. As it was a central hotel, it was a little loud on the street at night. However the window soundproofing was good, and our room had air conditioning. Would stay there again.

Good hotel, good location

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Perfect location for our needs, clean rooms and friendly staff on reception.
Cons: Friendliness of staff at breakfast and the variety of breakfast, only hit food was sausages, beans, scrambled eggs.
Location: The tube was about 8 min walk, and the restaustNt across the roD calle 'Yard' had lovely pizzas!
Stayed here for 2 nights in a family room 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 10. We arrived early after a long journey, and the reception staff were very good at finding us a room that was ready so we could unpack and head off out. The room was recently refurbished and clean and had everything we needed, the only downside was the noise from across the road from the loud music that went on until midnight. Breakfast was ok and 'did the job'.
