Overpriced hotel come into yearsPosted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Its closeness to the tube station
Too highly priced for a so called double room with dimensions that might be large enough for a single room. Bathroom with a shower cabinet and tab that need urgent attention. Furthermore a receptionist who occasionally stayed in the pub next door with the result that hotel guests - including me - waited for him at the reception for some 15 minutes despite having rung the bell several times. No English breakfast offered. Continental breakfast consisted of packaged butter and jam, no variety of bread types, just toast bread offered. All in all one of the worst hotel stays in my life - and I have neen staying some 80 nights per year in hotels for the last 30 years

Nice good value hotel, would stay againPosted Mar 3, 2014
Has everything you would expect for the price. Extra lite touches like water and fruit in the room give it an edge. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Very clean. Breakfast was a buffet and again very good value.

One Night in LondonPosted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: The price of the room for a London hotel, and the fact breakfast was also included.
Cons: The general corridors and stair carpet appearance needs attention.
Location: Local tube station with line straight into the heart of London
Hotel Makedonia is good for a base for an overnight in London at a reasonable price. The room was on the forth floor, no lifts available, but away from any noise of other guests. It was clean, although it did smell of smoke when initially entered but it had everything you needed - en suite, tea/coffee, plenty of towels, fresh bowl of fruit. Continental breakfast was included in the price and was substantial. Local tube station 5 minutes - one stop from Kings Cross. Overall we would consider the hotel again.

Comfy and good valuePosted Nov 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
'Cheap' London hotels are a real lottery, but this is the nicest one I've stayed at for the price. It's not in the best location, being a bit of a walk to the tube, while the view isn't the best. But it was friendly, clean and modern with a comfy bed. The free wi-fi worked and the continental breakfast was nice and served in a comfortable room. We dealt with two members of staff who were both friendly and helpful.

Highly recommendedPosted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: Clean rooms, generous with towels (Changed every day), thorough daily cleans, great breakfast, friendly but not intrusive staff.
Cons: Rooms could be too hot at times, but just turned down the radiator and it was grand. TV a bit small, but not a problem.
Location: Location was great for UCL, where we were going. Two stops to Russell Square and straight train to Heathrow. Not greatly bustling but great for sleep
We had a great time at the Hotel Makedonia. Really great attention to detail in keeping the rooms comfortable, warm and clean. We had a basket of fruit on our arrival! Wifi works fine (drops now and again but better than most comparatives). The location is great, 5 mins walk from Caledonian Road tube station, which is only one stop from Kings X. The breakfast was immense for a continental brekkie and was one of the only ways one could see a Greek theme (lovely feta, greek yoghurt, olives!). We were hugely surprised how cheap this place was for its location, comfort and attention to detail. it is my new 'go to' when staying in central London!

Comfortable and cleanPosted Nov 10, 2013
This hotel was perfect for an evening stay to see a gig at The Garage. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. Crisp white sheets on a comfortable bed and a decent power shower. Breakfast was a simple continental buffet with pastries, meats and cheeses and nice coffee. I'd stay here again.

Pros: The breakfast, the price and the choice of fresh fruit in the room and gels and shampoos in the shower.
Cons: The condition of the hotel and the addition of a lift.
Location: Location ok. No problems there.
