Pros: The staff was terrific. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly.
Cons: Overall cleanliness of room. Rooms need updating with new carpet in particular.
Location: Location was terrific. Very close to tube but out of way enough for a more quiet evening.
Staff was terrific. Everyone very helpful and friendly. We were there to visit my daughter studying and living near Russell Square. Location for us was perfect.

A Night In The Attic

Pros: Located just around the corner from a tube stop, 1 stop from King's Cross/St.Pancras station - very convenient for an early train.
Cons: Be clear about the nature of those 8th floor rooms at checkin.
At checkin we were asked to take a room on the 8th floor, with the caution that the lift only went to the 7th and we'd have to go up "a few" steps to the 8th. Having stayed in a variety of London hotels I'm not surprised by a few steps in older buildings. But a few turned out to be 18 and we had fairly heavy luggage. The room itself was not bad, though some of the furniture was old, scratched & nicked. The bathroom was recently redone and very nice with great water pressure. One annoyance was that although they'd built a nightstand/light system around the bed, there were no electrical outlets in it. If you normally leave your phone on the nightstand to check the time or use the alarm, you have a choice between that and charging. All in all the room itself was ok for the price by London standards but the customer experience will prevent me going back to this hotel or recommending it to anyone else. We were staying one night, on a Monday. We ran into other people checking in around the same time (fairly late) who were given rooms on more convenient floors or asked to be moved from the 8th and were, so clearly other rooms were available, and would obviously be preferable. So buyer beware. If you stay at the Russell, don't decide to just be agreeable like we did, you'll end up climbing 18 steps to get to a dark room in the attic.

This hotel is good, but considering the price, we may be able to expect more. The most disappointing thing is there is no refrigerator in the room. I never seen hotels with this class lacks refrigerators. Apart from that, breakfast was really nice and recommendable. Staffs are very kind. Location is very good, very near to the Russel Squre subway station and there is a supermarket.

Pros: The location.
Cons: The room I had, looked like any ordinary generic hotel brand but in shades of brown. No view, tepid hot water in the bath. Poor value for the cost.
Location: Many, major museums/universities/research centres. Train links/underground links.
A very courteous concierge. Very brown and beige room at the back of the building left no desire to return to it till late. Opening the window just made the drone of the extractors below even worse. A magnificent staircase on the ground floor lobby area, not progressed by the standard of the rooms! Excellent location, just a shame about the rest of the hotel.

the weird thing is I stayed here once before when rooms were cheaper. The larger rooms are nice. But now it got extremely expensive, so stayed in a smaller horrible room Went to bar in the morning for a cup of coffee, and the outrageous asking price was 4 LB Concierges are useless and ignorant

Really excellent location for site seeing in Londo

Location: Perfect easy use of public transport,tube station around the corner,if you are there for a few days suggest you buy an Oyster card .
Wonderful two night stay,only problem was air conditiioning units a bit noisy but once you closed bathroom door they were not a problem.

Pros: Nice staff.
Cons: Where do I start?? Rooms, rooms, rooms, and rooms.
Location: Good location. Near British Museum and Kings Cross. Tube station next door.
Looks good on the outside. Staff are professional, helpful, friendly. Rooms are very, very dated. WAY overpriced. We expected something much better. Rooms were grubby. Lampshades from the 70s. Uncomfortable SMALL bed, Tacky carpet. For the money, a rip-off.

Hotel lost my Expedia reservation

I had prepaid a night on Expedia and had the hotel reservation number … desk staff could not find it in the system. After waiting 30 minutes I called Expedia and they sorted it quickly. Expedia confirmed it was hotel mistake, desk staff apologised but did not offer an upgrade or breakfast or a beer. Shameful.
