Nice hotel stay in quiet neighborhood in London

Posted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: Gorgeous Edwardian design with a beautiful lobby, staircase and bar. My room was simple, but had lovely windows facing the adjacent park.
Cons: Light on the towels and toiletries.
Location: Great location facing a quiet residential park, with restaurants and attractions close by (British Museum, etc)
In London for holiday - this was a great place to be centrally located, but in a quiet neighborhood with lots of shops and restaurants close by. Nice coming home from some of the busier parts of the city to this quiet neighborhood. Concierge and desk staff were always welcoming.

Was very pleasant

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: location. Atmosphere
Cons: Tidy up the room every day, one day the maid said she did not have time
Location: the park. Walking distance from the British Museum, walking distance from the city center. Everything is very close and convenient
Pleasant hotel, not always cleaned the room, but there was a feeling of a clean and cozy room. Next to the bed there is no electrical connection so there is no place to charge your cell phone in it's uncomfortable

Above average breakfast, close to British Museum

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Yep, it's an old building, so room standards reflect that. However it is clean, quiet, handy for British Museum, the cooked breakfast was good quality for a self-serve buffet, and the staff were smart, friendly and courteous.

Great location. Large room, especially for London.

Cons: More towel rods in bathroom.
Bell captains, concierge and front desk were very helpful.

Very refined, if a little faded, grandeur.

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: The space and Victorian decor. The staff were without exception warm, friendly and helpful.
Cons: The rooms are a little tired. The tray charge for the room service was steep.
Location: Good, central location. Near to Covent Garden and the galleries in Trafalgar Square.
The first impression is one of faded Victorian splendour. The staff and the welcome they gave could not have been more pleasant and warm. The room was snug to say the least but we were only staying one night so it didn't seem to matter. I have stayed before at the Russell and had a much more urban chic room, but the one this time was pretty nondescript. We had the pleasure of a surprise package which included chocolates, champagne and rose petals and this compensated for the slightly disappointing room. Breakfast was great in a splendid large dining room which was lively and at atmospheric, if not sedate. The staff, again, were numerous and perfectly polite. All in all, would definitely recommend. It is not high end chic or luxurious but nowhere near downmarket. It has a charm and the staff are wonderful. The location is also very convenient.

Lovely decorated room. Great staff very comfortable and in a good location. Only thing was the space between side of the bath and the wall where the handbasin was was very tight

Classy and comfortable!

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: Air conditioning, comfortable beds, large bathroom, free internet. Excellent restaurant.
Cons: Larger elevators! One was the size of a small closet and barely held 2 people plus 4 suitcases.
Location: About 3 blocks to British Museum. Park across the street. Pharmacy, restaurants and shops a block away. Tube around the corner. ATMs at corner banks.
Stayed 6 days in June 2015. Weather hot, sticky. Really appreciated air conditioning.

Impressive large hotel close to Euston station

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: It is not as expensive as its impressive façade would lead you to expect
Cons: Only details really: more information on how to operate the air conditioning would be good and the sink plug was a bit wonky
Location: See above. Although not exactly close by, we did walk to the National Theatre from here.
It's about a 10 minute walk from Euston station with a case but Russell Square underground station is literally round the corner. It is a big Hotel but has plenty of character. I have used it three or four times and have always found it reasonably priced for the facilities offered.
