Nice B&B close to Heathrow

Posted Oct 14, 2014
My wife and I (60-somethings) were looking for a budget-priced hotel, close - but not too close - to Heathrow (no jet noises), offering ensuite bathrooms, in a pretty town with good transportation services (rail, taxi, bus), some restaurants, pubs and shops within walking distance. After a lengthy Expedia search, Kings Paget rose to the top of our list. An attractive old-style structure, renovated, clean, well-tended. Our main floor room was surprisingly large and quiet. Hearty full breakfasts included, friendly and helpful staff. We stayed four nights over two weeks, using it as a base for our comings and goings.

Cute old hotel

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: I liked that there was a sink and mirror in my room. I had a room with a shared bathroom (one bathroom per floor), but it was good. Never had to wait
Cons: One of the front desk staff came off a bit brash. I would say just give the staff some customer service training.
Location: There is a park, the library, plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
This hotel seems to be old, as many buildings are in the UK, but it is very cute and embrases the old style. They serve hot breakfast to order, as well as tea, coffee, orange juice and cereal if you want it. There is a cute little courtyard in the middle of the hotel and the shops close by are good, lots of restaurants, the library and park are right across the street. I had fun exploring the area closeby on foot.

Unable to cancel reservation 24 hr

Posted Jul 14, 2014
I called up the hotel to cancel my reservation 24 hr ahead but the staff told me he was unable to find my name as I had made reservation with Expedia. As such he was unable to do my cancellation. That afternoon when I called up again, a lady staff told me I can't cancel my reservation as I had reserved the room through Expedia that morning.

Nice place for a night

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Close to the airport.
Cons: Breakfast
Location: I went for a walk but you would need to take the bus to really visit historical places
I got there late, the lady at the desk was pleasant. She advised me to take the town cab instead of the airport ones which are very expensive. The room is comfortable. Breakfast is ok, no much selection. No gluten free items, too bad.

Nice hotel close to the airport.

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: It is an older hotel, but we liked that about it. We also liked the bigger rooms.
Location: There were several nice restaurants within walking distance.
We needed a hotel for our last night close to the airport. The rooms were clean and bigger than we expected. We had breakfast included with out price. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It was a very charming, hotel.

Just what I was looking for

Posted Feb 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
This rustic hotel was in a reasonably good neighborhood near local restaurants, pubs and stores. It had a good supply of walkable areas nearby in a typical mixed English setting. Breakfast was excellent; cooked to order. It was a short taxi ride from Heathrow, on regular bus routes, and near a train station. The fixtures and fittings were a little worse for wear, but otherwise it was quite adequate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all, a good experience.

Dirty room and dreadful customer services

Posted Jan 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed here one night as it was close to where I was visiting for a meeting the next day. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable too. However, there were serious problems here that would prevent me from staying here again. The main issue I had was the state of the carpet. When I bent down to take my socks off I saw a long hair on it. When I took a closer look at the carpet I saw that most of the floor was covered with patches of human hair. Because of the colour of the carpet they were difficult to see from standing height, but impossible to miss up close. The hairs were in addition to other 'bits' and leaves on the carpet. There was a long hair and a dirty mark on the single bed (it was a family room, and I slept in the double bed). Fortunately I'd brought slippers with me otherwise I'd have been asking for a change of room. As it was, it was late at night and I just wanted to go to sleep. Other issues include having to ask for a refund for the Internet access I'd paid for (who charges for wi-fi these days?) as it wouldn't connect in my room unless the door was open! One of the electrical sockets was faulty as the plug for my laptop charger wouldn't go in all the way. In the bathroom the shower hose looks like it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The final issue is that I put all the above comments to the hotel in an email and never got a response. I sent a follow up email and didn't get a reply to that either.

Cheap stay before Heathrow flight

Posted Dec 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Close enough to Heathrow to use for morning flight, and great price with breakfast included. Booked single room but was given double with ensuite - thank you. Only gripe is parking quickly fills up, was able to get a space but if all full not sure where i'd park.
