Fine if you like listening to machineryPosted Mar 27, 2015
The hotel is not flashy, it is worn, but it's location is good and price appears competitive. BUT there was a mechanical noise in the hotel - from a water pump - that makes life unbearable. Here's how to imagine what it's like. Purse your lips together and say brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr for eight seconds. Now be quiet for 5 seconds. Now repeat. Say brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr for eight seconds. Now repeat the silence for 5 seconds. Keep doing this day and night and don't stop. I'm not joking, don't stop. That's what it's like to be inside this hotel. It doesn't matter if it's 4pm or 4am, the noise is always there. Some rooms on the upper floors have it worse, but if you're on the lower floors you'll still hear a distant noise. God help you if you want to get some sleep. When asked, the hotel management seemed oblivious to why the noise might be a problem. Yes, you know what to do: stay somewhere else.

Okay hotel til overnatning for byferiePosted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Tæt på bus- og undergrund-transport mulighed. Og døgnet åbnet reception.
Cons: Lave fri god internet på alle værelser. Det er et must. Generelt bygningsrenovering er tiltrængt. Udskiftning af vinduer og alle installationer.
Overrasket over værelset (2.etage) var uden toilet. Sparsom morgenmad buffer, men ok.

London - not even getting what you pay forPosted Feb 17, 2015
Cons: Just about everything but start with honesty about the offer. My room was £50 per night, tiny and on the fifth floor and extremely difficult to reach
Location: Marooned in Lancaster Gate one way system. If you know London you can get by
London just keeps piling it on. You pay for a two star hotel and you get one. Within one hour of landing you have parted with £55 for travel [airport return and oyster card for 3 days]. A cafe seeks £1.28 for 33cl of water. Getting by in London - just visiting and keeping it reasonable is increasingly difficult. So, the Lancaster Court ... no pretentions to a value/service balance here. Everything minimzes cost and maximises income. Advertise wifi but don't make any effort to see that it works. Instead drive your clients to a £1.00 for 10 minutes alternative in the lobby. Offer soap that some that is so like little portions of caustic soda that you won't use it more than once. Rooms that are so small they have had to build special small beds. Chipboard everywhere. So I was looking for a low cost stay - but there is a difference between a business that manages cost and one that simply avoids it through shaving every corner, avoids maintenance - offers but doesn't deliver. By contrast I have stayed in a purpose built low cost hotel in Bangalore. Everything was new - designed to reduce the hotel stay to the essentials with intelligent style. At the heart of this was ensuring that the space was a pleasant place to be. Not in the Lancaster There are better places and I will find them. No city as big as London, with enough entrepreneurs and ideas, can hide a good value hotel proposition for ever

Cheap and close to the tube.Posted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: The hotel was quiet and bed comfortable. Breakfast was basic but ok- Tea, coffee, orange juice, toast, jam, cereal, cheese and cold boiled eggs.
Cons: The decor of the rooms.
Location: The hotel is between Lancaster Gate tube station and Paddington tube and railway station. Kensington park is just across the road from the tube.
I paid a good rate for 2 nights in a single room (with a sink) and shared bathroom. On arrival I was sent up to my room on the top/5th floor (be aware no lifts) only to discover that the window would not close. On reporting this to reception I was upgraded to a double room with a shower. I also discovered that there was a sink and toilet in what I had first thought was a wardrobe!! The decor in the room wasn't fantastic but was ok for 2 nights as a base for activities in London. If you want somewhere to stay that is decently priced but not particularly pretty then I would recommend.
