“Affordable, central, best views”
We've stayed at the Lancaster a few times and will come back again. The location, just above a central line tube station, is unbeatable.
“I will definitely return.”
The staff was efficient, courteous, and friendly. The room was spacious by London standards and well equipped. I go to the UK twice a year and will stay again at the Lancaster while in London. I attend the the theatre frequently and the nearness of the tube and ease of getting a taxi were attractive features. Well done, Lancaster London.
“Excellen location but could do a bit more effort on service.”
I like staying at Lancaster as this is just on the Lancaster Gate tube station and across the Hyde Park. The hotel is very comfortable, rooms are big (for London standards). The service could be better. On one occassion I was charged the full amount of my stay at check-in and on another I was offered a non-smoking room in which someone just smoked in the bathroom! Good for me was hotel's acceptance of their mistakes and compensation offered: a free upgrade to a suite and a complimentary breakfast respectively.
“Not too impressed”
This hotel was in a fantastic location, literally across the street from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. There was also a Tube Stop on the same block as the hotel. My only complaint has to do with our last night there. My husband and I were spending our last night in London before going to Amsterdam, and right before we started to go to sleep, we heard a pop and a loud hissing sound. My husband got up to investigate the sound as it sounded like it was coming from the mini fridge. It turned out a hose or pipe had burst from the mini frige or AC unit, and was leaking freon or some other sort of foul smelling gas into our room. We quickly got out of the room. I ran down to the front desk, barefoot and in a bathrobe, to request help. The night staff was very helpful in getting our clothing and personal belongings out of the room. They also put us up in the suite for our last night there. However, the next morning when we were checking out, the manager was very reluctant to offer us any additional compensation for our troubles. After we mentioned that we could have potentially asphixiated had we been asleep, he was finally willing to deduct 50% off of our room service charges.
“Fine Hotel”
Our stay was fine, we did not spend a lot of time at the hotel though. The room was comfortable enough, clean and quiet, and we were on a high floor, so there was a nice view of Hyde Park and of the city. The tube station was right next door, so that was very convenient. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, as it was fairly expensive. We tried to eat at the Island Grill, which is also connected to the hotel, but we left after being ignored by the staff for 10 minutes. Overall, we had a nice time.
“Nice hotel, excellent location”
Nice hotel, excellent location. Good deal taking into consideration prices of budget hotels in London.
“great clean hotel”
nice hotel, but a bit far from Hershey. Pool is very small.
“Very nice hotel”
This was a very nice hotel. Great location, close to the tube and bus stop and right across from the Hyde park. Staff was professional and helpful. Would stay again at this hotel.
“stay away from Islands Restaurant”
Great hotel with the exception of their captive Islands restaurant. Had bad experiences with both breakfast & dinner. Paddington area is within easy walking distance with several good restaurant choices.
“London”
Location was great - Very convenient to public transport and some excellant dining!
