A convenient, comfortable hotel.

Posted Nov 25, 2014
Pros: Easy reach of Oxford Street and very welcoming.
Cons: Breakfast - not enough room when it's busy and the buffet did not look great.
Location: Oxford Street - shopping; Hyde Park for walking and exercise. Not so far to the theatres in Tottenham Court Road/Shaftesbury Avenue etc.
The hotel is very convenient for the West End and we found the room comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a bit chaotic (probably because the hotel was full) but we didn't receive what we ordered and the buffet looked a bit tired. However, the bill was swiftly amended without a fuss. All together - clean and comfortable and convenient.

Great location, nice staff, great value for London

Posted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: The location, the specious room, the staff.
Cons: I guess the rooms could do with some updating.
Location: The hotel is situated just round the corner from Lancaster Gate tube station, and the very useful central line. Hyde Park is just opposite the hotel!
I've stayed in the Lancaster a few times and will come back next time I'm in London. The deluxe room was very nice and specious. Although the bathroom could do with an update, everything was clean. The tea facilities in the room are very useful, and the gym is small but perfectly nice for a workout away from home (the rain didn't allow for a run in the park....). The staff were all very nice, and when my room key didn't work, the receptionist suggested to come up with me just to make sure, after issuing a new key! Being away from home, this extra care feels very nice.

Good quality hotel right next to Hyde Park

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: Location, quality of fittings, comfort, couteous staff
Cons: As above, the TV was terrible. It also only had about working 10 channels on Freeview and the TV internet didn't work at all. Bring your laptop!
Location: Central Hyde Park across road, Kensingnton Palace 10 mins walk, Buckingham Palace 10 mins past that, Marble Arch 15 mins walk eastward for Oxford St
Ideal for a weekend in town if you're visiting the Hyde Park area or the museums or palaces around Kensington. The hotel iteslf is just 6 or 7 minutes walk from Paddington and is right above Lancaster Gate tube station. This gets you into the West End for shows etc, and Kensington Palace is a 10-minute walk across the Park. There's several nice restaurants with a few minutes walk to the north and west, with a preponderance of Italian eateries. The breakfast was pricey at £15 ph but there's lots of choice locally if you are prepared to wander up a side street for a few minutes for a croissant. We only had one issue - the remote control on the TV was very slow to respond (battery?) and when the TV was turned on, it defaulted to the Movie channel, so by accident we watched 10 seconds of a movie without realising what was going on - and they were quick enough to bill us £11 for the privilege. But at least they waived the cost when we complained, and that was that. Staff were courtesous and professional, all that you would expect of that quality of hotel. Comfortable room and beds, we had a nice time.

Very nice Hotel in excellent location.

Pros: The attitude of the staff- reception, lounge, breakfast room- in fact everyone we came in contact with. Also the location was perfect for our needs.
Cons: A fridge is provided for guests' own drinks, but perhaps some guests may expect a mini-bar in the room?
Location: The Hotel is situated across the road from Kensington Gardens, and round the corner from an underground station. Plenty of great places to eat nearby.
We were on a short stay visiting family, and wanted to treat ourselves to something a little special. We were not disappointed. The room was fresh, clean and very comfortable, as was the bathroom. One query about the hairdryer was immediately attended to. The staff were unfailingly friendly, polite and welcoming. Breakfast in "ThePark" was a lovely experience. Very good choice of foods and excellent service
