Business Trip

Fantastic setting, friendly and helpful staff and excellent food. Building was a bit tired but they have made the most of it. Rooms clean and comfortable but definitely worth the extra £10 for the bigger single, the standard is small. It is a bit out of the way but it is amazingly quiet and peaceful. The golf course although relatively new looks good we didn't play but a couple of the team are booking for a golf weekend. If you want quiet, good food, service and a comfortable stay this is the place for you with golf as a bonus!

Pre-golf break overnight stay - ideal location

Posted Mar 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
Ideal location for a personal overnight stay ("large" single room) before the start of a 2-day golf society break at the nearby Gold Club. Note: the golf club house is some way away from the hotel. Positives: location (for golf); car parking (facile); security/safety; area (middle of two golf courses); breakfast (excellent cooked); service (with a smile). Negatives: my single road-facing room needed a refurb (towels v well used, TV ancient with 2 remotes and no instructions - worked...eventually!), electric MIRA shower was feeble; WiFi in my room was on and off (v weak signal). Room tips: request a room facing the golf course (for views/light); if on own spend an extra £10 and get a double room. Note: there was no bar or food on the evening of my stay which was on a Sunday....this was something I had been unaware of beforehand. The hotel was very quiet....so it was a shame they had not put me on the golf course side rather than road side. Some written information as to where and how you can get food nearby on a Sunday night would have been welcome. Finally, I had paid extra and booked a "large" single room....I would not have liked to have seen a "small" one! Overall: it did the job, breakfast very good and was ideal location for me, however there are something things which would have made it (with minimal trouble) a better one for me.

weekend away

Posted Feb 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Over all dissappointed.no welcome, not friendly,we were the only guests. Before arrival we were told bar & resturant would be closed the weekend-nothing on the website stating this..No signing in & was asked to use side entrance basically one staff, room amazing view of woodland & green picture window.Bed was uncomfortable .The bathroom tiny -no bath & cramped long time for the hot water to come through the shower. The bed had wood around it so everytime yuo got up it caught the back of your legs.Carpet was grubby tv small.Old fashioned but nice.Breakfast was very good .Although we wanted to sit at the table in the bay window over looking the pond,we were expected to sit away from the view same thing happened the next morning. No welcome pack in room & we were not told what time breakfast was, the room door with fire instructions it is at the bottom.for a weekend the latest for breakfast 9am we just made it.Really stingy with coffee in the room & we had to bring our own drinks -this was not on the website about the resturant & bar being closed but they did ring before we left on our 4 hour journey to ask our arrival time as it was late I got the impression that they weren,t to happy about this..You either run it asa hotel or you don,t bother we feltt we were an inconvienence even though we were paying guests. We paid £80 a night that the room felt more like a B & B.In fairness they did ask us if we like to cancel .The place was very warm & we did get a sprinkling of snow.

Location very good especially if you are into Golf. Room hadn't been aired and suspect it hadn't been used for a while. Had to open windows to clear unhealthy smell Food good. Not suitable for anyone with Disabilities, both my Wife and myself found the bed two low and only had one chair.. It id what we wanted for the night but wouldn't go again.

The staff were welcoming and provided an excellent level of service, the hotel itself in is a lovely location. The room I had was slightly shabby and small but the bed was comfortable.

A rural delight

The road to the hotel was narrow and picturesque. The hotel is also a club house for the golf course which is free to guests. The hotel terrace slopes gently down to a small lake which sits on the edge of the golf course. The hotel supports a bar and restuarant. I had a tasty evening meal and a cooked english breakfast in the restaurant which overlooks the lake. The staff are friendly and enjoyed my stay
