“The bed was very comfortable:)”
The Marriott West India Quay is a nice hotel; if you need to be near Canary Wharf. This hotel is a more than an hour away from Heathrow by any means of transportation. I was there for the Barclay's ATP Tennis tournament at the O2 arena, a short, underground ride from the hotel. They should consider using the fact that the Docklands Light Railway (not the underground) is right outside the door and can get you to central London and interesting sights in minutes. Of course, the downside is that the DLR is just outside the hotel and from my room (on the 3rd floor) I could see the color of commuters eyes!!! In all fairness they did offer to change my room, but the other option was on the 1st floor overlooking the patios and the walkway. Soundproofing is not very good however. Just be aware that floors 9 and above are regulated to Executive apartment rentals. When making reservations via Expedia, it really wasn't clear that the Executive apartments are part of the hotel. The staff were all very helpful. Especially the night Concierge, who initially told me that I could print my boarding pass at no cost and then double checked with the business center, only to discover that I would need to buy internet service. He kindly offered to print it for me, saving me quite a bit. There are not many hotel options in the Docklands area and this hotel offers good size rooms and real elevators. There are tradeoffs, but the bed was very comfortable:)
“Two Sides to This Hotel”
This is an excellent hotel but beware that it has two faces that are dramatically different. One side of the hotel looks over the train tracks, industrial air conditioning units, and a rather dull working class neighborhood. The other side of the hotel faces the Canary Wharf area with water views and a vibrant/exciting neighbohood. The hotel will try to put you in the undesireable side unless you mention your desires. Great underground access. Wonderful neighborhood of cafes, restaurants, museums, and shops.
“Staff!!”
Staff is rude, they don't want to deal with your problems. I wanted to extend my stay and they offered me to extend it for xxx pounds a night when the room is available for yyy us dollars a night on expedia. I asked them why, and they told me to book it from expedia then - rude. I booked my room from expedia to extend it and they forced me to pack up all my luggages saying that they haven't received any confirmation and i got a confirmation from expedia by the time. Once i brought all my luggages, staff!!! told me that they can give the room i am staying as it's the only one in that price range.... So they just want to torture you in that sense. They put a coupon in my room and when I ordered dinner, the staff called me back saying where i have seen such a thing and i told them. When they brign the dinner to my room, they included all the items on the receipt. I asked them why, they said they are not informed about the coupon and when i showed it and they crossed the price... The rudest staff you can come up! Stay away!
“Great Hotel”
Great Hotel, Nice Peopel. Schopping mall Near by. Overground to London City 20min Travel!
“Pleasant, but not particularly convenient.”
This is a typical Marriott 4* hotel, located in the Docklands area of London. The adjacent outdoor plaza overlooks a canal, and, in the summer, it would likely be very appealing spot. In February, the cold wind diminishes its appeal. My hotel room was spacious, clean and modern. The overall decor is generic, but the public areas were attractive. Breakfast was good, the bar was lively, and the staff was helpful. There are many restaurants and numerous shopping opportunities (including a grocery store and a huge mall) within a short walk. The DLR station is right next to the hotel, and the Canary Wharf tube station is about 10 minutes away. Having said all that, it's important to understand that this hotel is not particularly convenient for tourism. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Central London via tube or DLR. Heathrow is almost 2 hours away, and there are no airport shuttles from this area. Cabs to the airport are almost 90UKL. If you have business in this area, or do not mind spending time on the tube, this hotel is a pleasant place to stay... for the right price.
“Business but limited pleasure”
The hotel works very well for business trips to Canary Warf but is less convenient for weekend trips to London. Highly dependant on tube/dlr to get to sights and this takes much time. Canary Warf is pretty dead on weekend evenings. One item to note. Do not get a room facing the DLR. You will be less than 500 yards from the tracks.
“Not Impressed”
For a 4-star hotel it really lacked in the front desk/lobby area and resturants. Places nearby to eat to that was fine, but not a very comfortable lobby area to wind down for the evening. Also the staff at the front desk wasn't very helpful.
“Great Stay!”
The Marriott was definitely a pleasant stay. Beautiful lounge, comfortable beds, impeccably clean. The staff bent over backwards to help. Their 24 hr room service, though overpriced, definitely came in handy for tourists that spend all day out and about :) The West India Quay tube stop is literaly around the corner. Will recommend to anyone.
“good for the business and leisure”
this hotel is locate in the canary wharf and west india quay tube station is easy to travel to center London and set by the dock area which financial business so many restaurants and pub in the area near by..so many things to do and to see..
“Very satisfied”
The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. There was a minor snafu with my reservation (I was initially assigned a room with twin beds rather than the king-size bed I'd requested) and the front desk staff dealt with the issue smoothly and efficiently. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. If I'm ever lucky enough to return to London I would definitely stay there again.
