“Great choice”
An excellent place to stay. Great location, terrific breakfast, and very good staff. An easy walk to the heart of London, with restaurants and food marts near by. The rooms are comfortable and the area is very safe.
“Location, location, location!”
The Bankside Mercure Hotel was a real standout, being ideally located close to the Thames and neighborhood attractions. From the hotel we were able to stroll easily and quickly to Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Millennium Eye. We also walked to the British Museum and went shopping on Oxford Street. We finished our excursion with a visit to John Lewis' food halls (Waitrose) and picked up a nice trio of salads, fresh French rolls, and some excellent British beers. It was a delightful couple of days in London made especially pleasant by our hotel's proximity to so many interesting places.
“Beware of arriving early if you are flying from the US”
The hotel is located conviniently so that you can visit all the sites by bus/ train. The walk to the London underground is about 0.5 mile. The hotel does a very poor job of explaining the charges. I was charged for an early arrival ( had come of the overnight from US) and was charged an extra half a day. The check in time was not clearly stated either on the expedia or the hotel website. Most flights from US arrive early and it should be mentioned more clearly.
“London business hotel”
Not in a tourist area which was fine with me as I had been to London before. Only complaint was the room was too warm (even though it was in the 50's outside and I had the window open) and I could not get them to make my A/C turn on. Good breakfast places across the street if you do not want to pay their breakfast rates.
