Avoid
Poorly maintained property needs renovation. Peeling wallpaper. Faulty blinds in the room. Stopped in room 8. Internal double glazing fitted but 1 peice of glass missing so high road noise if you a light sleeper be aware. Good location in central London shopping areas that’s it’s only positive in afraid. Wouldn’t recommend or stop there again.

The person who was in reception upon arrival was so kind and accommodating. He was very responsive to all requests and thanks to the location, it was extremely convenient to be able to walk to camden market and other places, if you don’t mind a half hour walk which I don’t, really.

Had to wait for a good 5 mins for someone to come and check me in - i dinged the bell a few times and then also called them. Eventually someone came, who was very nice, but it was late at night i was keen to get checked in asap.

Bed falling to one side, room smelt as though something had died in it. Single glazed room and four lanes of traffic which seemed to be constant during the night which ensured there was no sleep. This hotel might be opulent in name but if definitely isn't opulent nature! Only in London can you charge £150 for room if this nature. Location is handy though.

After reading some of the negative reviews I was concerned but we arrived early and they said if we could wait 30 minutes our room would be ready and it was,everything about this hotel was good,we went to BST in Hyde park and was happy with the short walk back to the hotel.ideally situated for these events,on return the reception staff asked if we had enjoyed the concert and wished us good night,the room was very hot as we were on the 3rd floor but we opened the windows and had a good nights sleep.We walked the short walk back to Baker Street station and travelled back to the midlands,we found this hotel value for money and would use again

Perfect stay
Honestly can't complain. Great location, friendly staff, everything was simple. Room fully equipped with everything I needed, good bathroom with powerful hot shower. Appreciated the electric fan for the hot summer night. Would recommend.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel itself appeared grand with large pictures, mirrors and ornaments however the furniture and bathroom in particular were in need of an upgrade.

Awful and dirty, fly's in kettle, bathroom discussing, towels crispy, shower barely worked and would definitely not stay again - If i wasn't so tired and it wasn't so late i would have looked for alternative accommodation. I didn't get chance to speak to anyone as there wasn't anyone around and in the morning the fire alarm was going off and they couldn't work out how to switch it off. I have stayed in better hostels

I was really disappointed with our stay. The hotel is entitled Opulence and has 4 stars. The reality is anything but and have no idea how it gained this award. There are far better hotels for the same price which offer better facilities and comfort

Lovely heritage property based in a very convenient location for sightseeing, shopping and heaps of public transportation. Great for short stays Room was small but clean the bed was very comfortable always supplied with heaps of tea and coffee. I’d definitely stay here again

I saw the reviews online and thought my stay maybe less than average, the reviews are very unfair. i stayed for one night and it was lovely, clean, friendly staff and the room had everything I needed and more. There is no lift and the hallway is a little worn, but my room was lovely. I will stay again

Opulent this is definitely not! The whole place needs a complete refurb, it is shabby, unpleasant, and not particularly clean. The windows wouldn’t close (the wind was howling and the rain lashing) and the mattresses and pillows were disgusting. However, the staff were pleasant and helpful and the location was perfect.

Nice hotel, conveniently situated off Baker St. i was given a room on the top floor, and no lift. Air con was faulty so the room was a constant 30°c. This had been broken for quite a while judging by the temporary repairs. Staff lovely and helpful and plenty of dining options nearby

Terrible. Rooms were tiny, unclean and out dated. The tv didn’t work. The shower barely worked. The shower tray was blocked. The toilet was unhygienically clean. The staff were rarely on reception. After trying to get a refund I’ve been met with “my word against there’s” little help from hotels.com. Trip ruined, money wasted.
