Business type hotel convenient for rail travellers

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Stayed here for short overnight break. Very convenient for the major London rail stations, being a five minute walk from Euston & Kings Cross/St Pancras. The hotel lacks any character but I guess if you're on a short business stay or a one-night flit to the capital, then it serves its purpose reasonably well. Then again, there are cheaper lodgings in the area if a clean and comfortable hotel are all you need. It was a sweltering Saturday when I stayed there. After ten hours of traipsing around the city I eventually collapsed into my room at midnight. The fridge had barely cooled any of the drinks inside it (with hindsight perhaps it wasn't working) and so I checked the in-room directory for the location of ice machines. Great...these were located on three different floors. Yes, they were to be found as directed but not one of them worked. Dreadful! Not what I needed after a long days sightseeing during a mini heat wave! The following morning I got up at 6.45am as I had an early morning appointment with no time for breakfast beforehand. Not to worry, thought I. Shall make a nice cup of coffee to start my day. Not to be. Waited ten minutes for kettle to boil before realising it didn't work. Phoned housekeeping Requested working kettle as soon as poss. Reply? Do you want it now sir? Its very early! Waited approx 20mins for replacement kettle. Tried to fill it up only to find it too was broken. Leaked all over my ipad. Gave up. Went out to Costa before I dehydrated!

Clean, convinent and comfortable.

It's only worth it if there is a good offer. The bed is large and comfortable, feeling refreshed in the morning. Efficiently working air conditioner. I also like the shower but the absent door means a wet floor afterwards. View is poor, obstructed by the large renovating building

Good hotel with reservations

Superb environment. However our room had no full length mirror and the remote control for television was missing. Staff dealt well with these shortcomings. Breakfast wait of ten minutes unfortunate but they were busy. Reception staff superb

Reliably warm service

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: The staff are super-welcoming and one can access just about anywhere in London, including LHR, via the extensive public transport adjacent to hotel.
Cons: The fitness center, with a wall of glass windows, was like a sauna in the middle of a sunny morning.
Excellent service and location, albeit priced at premium levels.

Nice place, well located

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: Great location, nice clean, comfortable rooms
Cons: The bar area was noisy and uninviting. needed toning down into an area where you could sit, talk and relax.
Location: Close to St Pancras and Kings Cross which in turn meant an easy walk to Bloomsbury, British Museum and walkable to the West End
A few problems with the computer system which meant it took an age to check us in and again to check us out. However, the staff member who dealt with us was genuinely apologetic and embarrassed and so it almost didn't matter

Location: Train station three minute walk with all main tube lines available. The British Library next door. Places to eat and drink all around.
maximum walk of three minutes from St Pancras station to the hotel. Reception staff helpful and informative. The room spacious, clean and well maintained. All hotel staff pleasant.
