Good location but Not worth the price

Posted Nov 9, 2014
-Close to public transport, restaurants and groceries/pharmacies. I think this is the only good thing about this hotel. -Stay away from this hotel if you have big luggages because there is no elevator unless you request for room on the ground level. -Free breakfast included but not what i expected. -not a good place to sleep, you can literally hear your neighbor's conversations -the floor is uneven and makes a creeking sound. - there's a 'clicking' sound in the wall after using the shower. Must be the plumbing or heating.

Good location, poor quality. NB no stairs.

Toilet in bathroom was filthy and hadn't been cleaned for months. Breakfast was barely adequate and clearly the cheapest management could source.

Great Value, great location

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: I loved that it was in a safe neighborhood away from the crowds. But I had quick access to all the tourist sites I wanted to see.
Cons: I should have asked for a fan. I had to keep my windows slightly open just to let some wind in.
Location: Madame Tussauds, Sherlock Homes and Regent Park were close. But it's easy take the Circle Line to most of London's more touristy attractions.
I expected a small room. Afterall, it was an inexpensive hotel which was a step up from being a hostel. The location was awesome! Barker Street and Marylebone underground stations were right there, as well the the Barker Street bus stop. We took Bus 453 and took me to key sites like Trafalgar Square and Westminster where we got off and walked. It was a nice place to stay because I was away from the touristy part of London, but still had access to Tourist London, if that makes sense.

Somerset Hotel

Pros: good location
Cons: a lot. clean shower curtain. hooks to hang towels, really basic stuff would go a long way.
Location: close to tube, easy access to rest of London.
This is a 1 star total minimalist hotel. No amenities It's a room with beds, that's it. Nice location, and the staff tries, however don't expect anything other than a place to crash. Very loud off the road and the rooms get stuffy quick, no a/c.

Disappointing experience

Posted Aug 21, 2014
I always book my hotels through expedia and almost never rate them. In this case I will make an exception. I wouldn't rate this hotel a single star. The whole experience was terrible. The room was dirty with sub-basic facilities. Cold water in the shower. Worst bed I've ever slept on. Just don't go there.

Family trip to London

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location, room size, beds fine.
Cons: Better cleaning would make it really nice
Location: Sherlock Holmes museum around the corner. Many ok resturants nearby.
Booked a 5 person room at a reasonable price. Conveniently located close to the Baker street underground station. The room was large, beds where comfortable, TV very small but worked. The room was not very clean, spots on the carpet but the sheets where clean and soft. The breakfast (included) included: white bread toast with butter and jam, corn flakes, coco pops (noname brand) and musli with yogurt. Nice to have this option, although spartan. The staff where helpful and nice.

Good location but not a good sleep

Posted Jul 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
The location was very handy, being so close to Baker street tube station, but for what I paid it was not worth it. I could feel the metal springs of the bed, and the room was really noisy - I could hear everyone who walked up the stairs and into their rooms. Needless to say I was awoken many times throughout the night. Also, the room was not overly clean. There were hairs from previous guests in the bathroom - both on the toilet and in the shower. Not impressed.

Convenient location, poor facilities and service

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Convenient to Marylebone Station
Cons: Everything
The room was very disappointing. Top floor, but no lift. Steep stairs. Noisy, inside and out. Poor ventilation through dilapidated window. No tea/coffee facilities in room - expected to travel four flights of stairs to machine in basement. Not even a glass in the room. No table, no chair. Breakfast, described as Full by Expedia, was anything but - do it yourself white toast, limited cereals - with no staff on hand. Overall an unattractive and unwelcoming lodging house, not really worthy of the name Hotel.

Good location, terrible hotel

Posted Jun 30, 2014
The carpets look very old and dirty. Bed linens and bathroom were clean. The hotel does not look like the photos on expedia. Very ran down. Very noisy due to incredible loud slamming doors.
