The Athenaeum Made Our Family Trip Special!Posted Nov 11, 2013
Pros: Great Family Apartment at a fair price, Friendly staff, Incredible location, Free minibar items and free WiFi.
Cons: Nothing. Great Stay.
Location: Perfect location for sightseeing. 1000 feet from Buckingham Palace. A few minute walk to the Green Park Tube Station. 10 min. walk to Harrod's.
This is the first time I've ever rated a hotel, but felt so strongly about what a great experience we had at The Athenauem in London that I had to give them a big thumbs up. We had one of their one-bedroom "family" apartments right next to the main hotel. It was perfect for our family of four and included a nice bedroom, marble bath, large living room with dining area and a small kitchenette. The unit also included an undercounter washer/dryer, two TVs and a Wii system for the kids. As a special bonus, all the minibar items (except for alcoholic ones) were free and restocked daily with juices, milk, soda, ice cream, candy, etc. It's a small thing, but one that really helps a family relax. We often stay at Ritz Carltons, and although beautiful, we feel the Ritz is always trying to pry every dollar they can from you. Not so at The Athenaeum. Even the WiFi was free. Beyond the exceptional room, the staff was great and very friendly. "Slim Jim," the doorman always remembered my kids names and made them feel like young royals! Any item we needed was brought to our room in minutes. When we arrived early in the a.m. after an overnight flight, they gave us a room to change and nap in, as our room was not ready. Really, really nice gesture. Lastly, you can’t beat the location. It’s right on Piccadilly, a few minutes walk across the park from Buckingham Palace and near the Green Park Tube. Lots of restaurants around the block in Shepherd’s Market area. In short… we loved it!

Extremely overpricedPosted Oct 20, 2013
Pros: The location.
Location: Everything is nearby.
This is 5 star hotel but looks like nothing special, on the contrary a little rundown. For $750 a night, you would expect something like the Ritz. Did they have amenities, yes, but so do most of 4 even 3 star hotels. If you are ready to pay this price try to go to the Ritz or Park Lane. The room was not very large, complicated lighting system, room service for breakfast never arrived or it arrived after we left. The walls are paper thin, you could hear drunken people arriving next room talking loud, yelling etc. until 6 am., like a motel! Will never go back.

Booking was not confirmed!!!!Posted Sep 24, 2013
When we arrived after a long travel experience tired wanting our room was advised not in the system??? sorry no room?? take a seat and we will look into it!! Despite me having a booking in their spa and numerous emails and requests confirmed by the concierge...PAID for tickets in their safe foe me to collect on arrival? they had no idea I was coming??? Bizarre and was never explained how this happened passed the blame to Expedia. Not a great arrival at this NOT Cheap 5 star hotel. Put a sour taste in our mouths for the entire stay.

Your site did not make clear that the rooms are service apartments affiliated with the hotel. I thought that I booked a hotel room but was actually assigned to a service apartment room. That was a big disappointment. But the hotel's location is great.
