Vacation in EnglandPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: Everything, and especially the service.
Cons: It's all good.
Location: It is less than a 100 yards from the back of Buckingham Palace, and a very short walk to Victoria Station. With the underground, everything is near.
The room was excellent, as were the breakfasts (an English breakfast is a great way to start the day) and the lounge (a g & t is a great way to end it). The concierge staff is superb. When the zipper on my main suitcase broke, they found a replacement for only L30, and located a reasonably priced ticket for a Chelsea game.

Great quality!Posted Mar 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great value for the price. A little expensive but worth every penny. Beautifully appointed. Love the library and bar for tea or a late night drink. The staff was wonderful. Very attentive. The rooms are a little small but very comfortable.

Stuffy and full of attitudePosted Nov 12, 2012
Pros: Small and cozy
Cons: Full of caricatures of haughty English servants
Location: Great location in Belgravia
It wasn't the cleanliness or the decor, all traditional and fine (although the picture online depicts a fabulous green lawn behind the hotel--more like a small patch of grass). It was the attitude--polite without a trace of friendliness. If what you want is a super-conservative and stuffy hotel full of British business people in the bar and haughty staff, then this is for you. For the cost, there are many other luxury hotels in London that will deliver a friendlier, more welcoming experience. I am a seasoned traveler and have stayed in hotels on par to or nicer than this all over the world. I was made to feel like an appalling nuisance when I arrived on my overnight U.S. flight and the room wasn't ready--no problem, I was happy to make a quick change and go about my day, checking in later. I was told I could change, vaguely, "on the fourth floor," but I took the elevator up there to find nothing but a hall of rooms. I dragged my bag down stairs to the basement ladies' powder room. Another time I stopped at the desk to ask for a corkscrew--they looked at me like I was crazy and I was told the bellman would bring one to my room. He did, then told me he'd need it back immediately. When I arranged a taxi for my departure and inquired how early I should leave, I was asked, "Are you flying first or business?" I burst out laughing at the absurdity of the presumption. I was charged for wi-fi but on the last night a helpful bellman told me I could log on with a password for free.
Luxury and caring personal servicePosted Oct 13, 2012 on Hotels.com
Couldn't fault it. However I didn't use the restaurant as had a meal arranged elsewhere. Not cheap, but really excellent.
