“Good position”
A perfectly decent hotel at an economical rate (for London) in a great position. The rooms are fairly spacious and not too cluttered, and those at the back are impressively quiet for central London. The pub downstairs does a range of traditional Fuller's beers and pies. And the location is perfect: very close to all the cultural sites on the South Bank (National Theater, Globe, Festival Hall) and a pleasant 20 minute stroll across the Thames to Trafalgar Square in one direction or St Paul's in the other.
“Cozy”
My husband and I really enjoyed this hotel. It was conveniently located near the Waterloo Station where you could catch the train or the tube. The rooms were cozy, comfortable and clean. It was a bit stuffy, but luckily the windows opened, alleviating that problem. The bar downstairs was also a nice place to have a meal and a pint... but get there early to grab a seat because it gets crowded. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and would definitely stay there again.
“Loved the location”
Located between the Southwerk tube station and the Waterloo railway and tube station, the Mad Hatter was a great starting point for exploring London. It was also just one block in from the South Thames walkway, a short walk from the Eye, and had easy access to several restaurants. It made a great home base for us. Our room was always clean and the tea tray was kept well stocked. Only drawbacks were a mattress too firm for our tastes and a duvet that was excessively heavy. Road noises were to be expected in a city the size of London and we eventually adapted to them. Perhaps it would be wise to request a room to the rear of the hotel, if you prefer quietude.
“Great service, comfortable.....wonderful location for theatres.”
Hotel was wonderful. Located within walking distance of Waterloo Station, National Theatre, Tate Modern Art Museum and the Globe. Good breakfast, helpful service with friendly advice.
“Just what I wanted”
I was traveling and sightseeing with a nine-year-old and the hotel was perfect for us, including a pub/restaurant so we could "go home and eat." The staff was helpful and the location was excellent.
“Pretty Good”
It was a descent hotel. A bit of a farther walk from the tube then I thought but overall my stay was nice. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean, staff was friendly. Only downfall is the internet connection was horrible but hey, your on vacation so you should be out sightseeing right? Be careful about taking a cab to the airport... 58 BP's later.... ouch!
“GREAT ALTERNATIVE, QUITE AND QUALITY SMALL HOTEL.”
GREAT EXPERIENCE. IF I COME BACK TO LONDON I WILL COME BACK TO THE MAD HATTER HOTEL.
“Cute little hotel in the business district”
There was a lot of construction going on around the area. Which was disappointing, but the hotel made up for it. It was super sweet. Just comfy, and had a nice Fuller's pub attached. :) lovely.
“Excellent short-term, central option with character”
Everything about this hotel was excellent for the price (I got an Expedia Special Rate). It's central, has old-fashioned atmosphere and a great bar, but the rooms are clean and very up to date. Did not sample any food. Much better than anything else in London I've stayed in in the price range and staff were very helpful.
“Nicehote, good location”
Nice hotel at at very convenient location. The staff is not that helpful though.
