Always a pleasurePosted Oct 21, 2013
Beautiful hotel, full of character. Love the decor and the honesty bar. Location central but quiet - ask for a room at the back if you're a light sleeper though as Fabric nightclub opposite can be noisy on weekend nights.

Overrated hotelPosted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Quiet, private, different.
Cons: Tea & coffee facilities. Better prices for less amenable rooms.
Location: All good
We were really disappointed with this hotel. We were on the 4th floor - no lift- in a very small room . Nothing like the rooms advertised. It was very warm and stuffy even with the windows open and air conditioning on. The bed and surroundings were as depicted in the photos (bed very comfy and pillows great), but set in such a small dark room they lost there allure. We had the roll top bath but frankly it was a poor relation compared to mine at home. There were no tea and/or coffee making facilities in the room and therefore if you ordered it was extra - this was not a cheap hotel. Whilst I understand that the more exclusive hotels don't provide this facility, frankly I think that is ill conceived. The staff were very helpful and not at fault in any way apart from ordering a pot of tea for two that came very well presented but with only one tea bag! I was really looking forward to this weekend, having booked it as a surprise for my partner. Boutique is good but not at the expense of frankly ripping the customer off. It felt a bit as if we were supposed to be in the Emperor's new cloths and just accept that what we were being told was all excellent when it wasn't.

Pros: Read the above
Cons: A longer stay!!
Location: see the above
I was so happy with my room and the service, the breakfast was amaizing. The proxcimity to the tube and historical sights in the area. I flew in for the weekend from LA to see Fleetwood Mac at the O2, the staff was very accomidating to calling me a cab service to the event. My room had very nice space, with the frige, and comphy robe, it was clean had nice views, I loved the power room set up. I was a solo travler. I could have easly done this stay with a partner as well. I would defiantly stay again. Thank you so much.

Amazing inner city breakPosted Sep 10, 2013
Pros: Very friendly staff, always happy to help and nice touches such as complimentary DVD library for lazy days and a Bloody Mary on the breakfast menu!
Cons: £12 per breakfast seemed a bit steep for what we got, but it is a premium central-London hotel catering for city-types.
Location: St. Paul's and the Southbank an easy walk away to enjoy the Tate Modern, the Globe and many glorious river views.
We had a weekend break here to celebrate a birthday with a trip to the theatre and a few cocktails. Couldn't have had a better place to relax afterwards, with lovely Victorian décor and very grand feel.

Proper English InnPosted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: Close to underground and train. Beautiful decor and environment. Friendly and helpful staff. Fast WiFi.
Cons: Shower thermostat was very finicky.
Location: Byron's Proper Burger place was yummy and fair priced. St. Paul cathedral very close. Close to trains and subway.
My wife and I stay here 3 night and loved the hotel decor so much we had to take pictures around the place. The location was great 1 minute walk from Paddington station. Only down side was getting the shower temp just right took us about 5 - 10 minutes each time but that didn't bother us.

We enjoyed the hotel and the charming furnishings, excellent staff, and large room. Tripped on one of the steps going up to the bathroom.

Beautiful, charming, real character.Posted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: We felt extremely welcome and cosseted!
Location: Wonderful location - 5 minutes to the millennium bridge and all the south bank has to offer; lovely restaurants and history right on the doorstep.
Staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and friendly - a real credit to the hotel. We had a beautiful room in the rafters with a deliciously comfortable bed - high quality mattress, bed linen and bathroom products made us feel very looked-after. We loved the attention to detail in the hotel notes, and in the combination of modern comfort and beautiful antiques. Spent a comfortable few hours in the main living room with the resident hotel cat and the well-stocked honesty bar. We couldn't fault it and will be back for more: a real antidote to the huge, faceless hotels of most of central London.
