Beautiful house hotel close to city amenities

Posted Jun 21, 2015
Less of a hotel and more like staying at your aunt's house! From the discreet unassuming entrance to the guests drawing room, honesty bar and decor of the rooms, this place is unique. Great location near Smithfields market and 2 minutes from Farringdon station. Will stay again!

A little slice of London Heaven

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Superbly decorated Historic building, staffed by people who offered amazing hospitality. An absolute gem amongst a sea of soulless Hiltons. Will recommend and surely stay again, thank you

Albergo old fashion

Posted Jun 4, 2015
Pros: L'atmosfera vecchia Londra

COSY COMFORT WITH GREAT SERVICE

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: Very relaxed atmosphere but service was good. Continental breakfast tray was first class.
Cons: Reception should inform guests on arrival or include information in the room that they supply complementary tea trays on request.
Location: Although the location is a little out of the centre of London it has lots of great places to eat and drink nearby.
Lovely old fashioned style hotel with good friendly service. We felt like we were staying in a country house hotel not near the centre of London. The staff were so pleasent and helpful nothing was too much trouble. Our continental breakfast tray was one of the nicest we have had with some nice touches such as warm bread rolls. The nicest hotel we have ever stayed in London.

Pros: Quirky hotel, furnished and equipped to a very high standard and a stone's throw from Farringdon/Barbican.
Location: A good choice of restaurants and bars within a hundred yards.
Friendly and efficient staff. Roll top bath, Egyptian cotton sheets and bath robes; all very smart!

Pros: Wonderful staff, love the artwork all over, and the local history info. Only warning, no elevator.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Really interesting part of London, amazing nearby historic sights, easy walk to St Pauls and transportation.
Absolutely lovely, like walking into your 18th century home, with mod-cons.

Beautiful hotel, full of character and history.

Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: Everything, the beautiful hotel itself, the excellent, attentive staff who could not do enough to make my stay extremely enjoyable and Lady Grey.
Cons: I believe The Rookery and it's staff are already first class and I could not find any area in need of improvement.
Location: The location is also excellent, in the heart of Farringdon, 2 minutes walk to the tube station, beautifully peaceful and surrounded by food outlets.
I loved my stay at The Rookery. Wonderful hotel especially for someone, like me, who has an interest in history and appreciates the beautiful antique furnishings of a past era. But who still enjoys the comfort and facilities of a first class hotel.

lovely hotel

Posted Apr 29, 2015
Pros: The cleanliness of the room and friendly staff
Cons: Reliable wifi, kettle in the room
Location: St. Paul's and the millennium bridge are within about a twenty minute walk from the hotel.
We had a lovely stay in the Susan gilyard room at the hotel, we were allowed to check in early as our room was ready when we arrived. Well appointed room, air con worked and the room was very clean. Would have liked a kettle in our room and also the wifi was temperamental and didn't work more than it worked. Lots of restaurants and bars close by. A very nice hotel!
