“A hidden gem”

The Rookery is an absolutely fabulous find for a charming place to stay in London. Beautiful rooms with lots of special touches. Not in "tourist central" but so easy to get around as it's right next to the Tube and there are lots of wonderful restaurants right in the area. Be warned that there are also lots of pubs and late night clubs too - it can be a little noisey late a night but a good set of earplugs took care of that.

“Victorian Romantic Hotel in North Central London”

I had read previous opinions ranging from disappointment to a romantic getaway. My fiancee and I were here last month (NOV 07) and thouroughly enjoyed our time. The rooms were beautifully decorated and restored to the Victorian Period, which includes a claw-foot tub and pull chain toilet in the bathroom. All pristinely clean and newly remodeled. Even the copper pipes looked brand new! The bed was comfortable and there was not any outside noise that we noticed in our stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even getting us a menu and take-away order one evening that we couldn't get a table in town ANYWHERE! The common areas were beautiful with fireplaces and it actually had quite a lot of business folks there using their victorian meeting room. The place to stay in that part of London! Romantic and decently priced, considering the exchange rate against the dollar (2:1)!

“Really happy with friendly comfortable and romantic hotel”

Although the hotel is very small and may be difficult to get a room on the dates you wish it is worth booking ahead of time! We really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable home-away-from-home hotel! The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was beautiful and very unique. It was so nice to have such a nice hotel away from all the noice and people of London. Defintely would stay here again.

“A Wonderful Week in London”

For our first vacation in over 15 years we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay than the Rookery. The staff was always friendly and helpful and any small request was immediately acted upon. The room was very good and the bed was wonderful. Not a place if you want a lot of action all the time but a very good location for relaxation and recharge between day trips. Many opportunities for dining in the immediate area from simple lunch room to full service and pleanty of "pub grub". Very well located to access of both the "Tube" and the National Rail, the Rookery makes it the right place to stay for exploring London and England. We will be back.

“Always return to the Rookery”

The Rookery has charm, comfort and excellent service. The rooms are homey and very comfortable. Wireless is free and the "honesty" bar is cozy and comfortable for drinks to take on the "honors" system. I love staying here and always return when I'm in London. It's 2 minutes walk from Faringdon Station.

“The Rookery”

Excellent hotel with wonderful and quirky historic charm. Beautiful antiques in the room. May not be pleasing to those who want a Hyatt or Marriott. Could use a grab bar near the tub for the old and creaky. Some other reviewers complained of lack of public space, but they must have missed the second large sitting room to the left of the registration desk, plus the two beautiful conference rooms. The latter were open and unoccupied for most of our stay. Excellent restaurants at all price levels very nearby. E.g., St. John.

“I love this hotel!”

Just simply a charming place to stay in London. It doesn't "feel" like a hotel. It feels like you've been transported to another era. I recomend this hotel to anyone looking for something different from the "mass" hotels that most people stay in.

“A little old, a little new.”

A little noisy (street and construction noise) but a lovely hotel in an area with plenty of little cafes and pubs.
