Time for an update.Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: See above.
Location: Stroke city is nearby but I really have no interest in local activites.
I have a soft spot for this place because I used to have Sunday lunches here back in the 70's. Having said that, it needs to be updated. The staff are perfectly nice but it just has the feel of an outdated location. Some of the little things bothered me; the doors to this place are simply too narrow, especially if your wheeling a suitcase. The front door doesn't even have a ramp for the disabled let alone luggage (at least I didn't see anything like that). The ladies serving the breakfast are very nice and helpful but I'm afraid the cuisine doesn't match. I almost spat out my orange juice and the toast was too blackened. The hot food just wasn't appetizing. The access to the car park is cumbersome and illogical. The swimming pool has a better car park than the front of the hotel. I wish them well but I shan't be returning. It's off to the Roe Hotel next year.

Proper base to explore the north of Ireland.Posted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: Quiet with plenty space.
Cons: Lobby restroom needs attention.
Location: A bit out of town, definitely for car travelers.
Lovely stay away from the bustle and confusion of Derry's downtown. Great location to day trip easr or west on the Coastal Causeway. We made a day trip all the way west to the Donegal coast and back! Great staff, excellent restaurant for evening meals as well as a fresh, hot breakfast each morning. Well done by us. Highly recommended!

Pros: Great food
Cons: Rooms and hotel in serious need of refurbishment
Location: The only hotel that's close enough to airport for an 8 am flight
The food was excellent, as was the service and the rooms were clean enough. However even in the room I was moved to a few of the tiles in the bathroom were chipped. The room I was initially given the remote had been lost for the TV and I having sat down briefly on the bed it felt like a camp bed (you could feel the springs through the mattress which was pretty thin. I must admit that it's been my experience with Best Western hotels in the past that the facilities are all there - pool, ironing board in room etc but that the hotel itself is in serious need of refurbishment.

Very happy with The Best Western Whitehorse Hotel. Comfortable overnight stay in clean and well presented hotel. Conveniently located to the City of Derry Airport and an easy drive to Derry/Londonderry. Didn't have time to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely.
