Convenient hotel only minutes from Manhattan

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Very nice rooms and helpful management. Breakfast is sufficient with a good variety. A few restaurants near hotel, and a very nice little Pizza and burger take-away place around the corner. Close to 2 subway stations for fast link to Manhattan. Hotel is in a very quiet area. Good value for money compared to Manhattan. Would stay here again.

Convenient and reasonably priced

Posted Jun 14, 2014
Pros: Location, price
Cons: furniture in room, and its cleanliness.
Location: Good take out, subway.
The best part of the hotel is its friendly, helpful staff. Front desk was great (friendly, helpful) and the women working breakfast worked hard to keep the dining area clean at peak time and refilled food that ran out quickly. I thought, though, that they could serve breakfast past 9:30am (seems like EVERYONE is scrambling to get breakfast in between 9-9:30 and the door WILL close at 9:30am). The main weakness is it seems like ownership nickels and dimes its customers and facilities. Furniture in the room was on the cheap side, dirty and dinged up through long usage. There was a wear hole on my couch fabric. Pillows are plentiful, but uncomfortable. They charge you a dollar to check your luggage. On balance, if you need a place to sleep in NYC and you aren't a 1%er, this place will work as it is close to Queens plaza subway, and you can order good take out around the plaza for dinner on your way back in from the day.

No parking

Posted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable
Cons: parking
This hotel was clean, comfortable, easy access to Manhattan, and perfect for a weekend conference/getaway. The only thing stopping me from giving it five stars was the fact that we couldn't park at the hotel because the garage was full. The parking was a big factor in choosing the hotel, so that was the only blow to the rating. Otherwise it was fantastic!

Great stay in queens

Posted Jun 3, 2014
Pros: Location for price was good.
Cons: breakfast could have more fresh fruit and yoghurt.
Location: close to both queens plaza and queensboro metro stations, to get you into manhatten easily.
Great location just over the bridge from Manhattan. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Room was a reasonable size. Trains from the airport are pretty close. Easy access to a number of different metros, so was very easy to get into Manhattan. Breakfast was pretty plain, but since it is included I was not complaining too much. There was only a little bit of fruit and if you went down after 8 you didn't get any.

Convenient location, reasonable price

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Location, price, helpful staff,comfort.
Cons: The plastic serving ware
Location: Near 3 subway stations. Bar called Dutch Kills Centraal.
Good modern hotel close to 3 subway stations connecting to Manhattan. Room quite spacious and air conditioned also the free wifi was a bonus. Very comfortable bed and good pillows too. Breakfast was included and included a couple of hot things as well as breads and rolls, there was even a waffle maker. Also cereals, oatmeal, juice and coffee. The plastic plates, cups and cutlery were disappointing, more like a fast food outlet. Staff were very helpful with directions and advice. The bar down the street was great for a drink and a meal.

Good value and convenient to subway

Posted May 30, 2014
To save some money we like to stay in Long Island City. It is an easy walk to the subway station then just a few stops into the heart of Manhattan. I found the hotel staff genuinely friendly an helpful. It is not luxurious, but it has what you need, including an included hot breakfast.

Very friendly and accommodating staff!

The hotel staff were friendly and always helpful whether extra towels were requested or directions to get into the city. The Verve is a value as it is so close to the subway and just a few stops to get into Manhattan.

Very clean, efficient hotel close to metro.

Posted May 18, 2014
Pros: Location close to metro. Helpful staff. Spacious, well appointed room.
Cons: Curtains in room are decorative features only and do NOT close. Too much light comes in. Had to wear eyemask to sleep. No bar in hotel.
Location: Not much nearby but metro station only 3 minutes walk so easy to get downtown, or to JFK airport.
Excellent, helpful staff. Nicely appointed comfortable room. Very good hotel facilities.
