Nice hotel, great staff!

Posted Sep 26, 2014
Nice hotel with very comfy beds and great views of Manhattan. Heated tile floors were much appreciated! All the staff members were so friendly- from the front desk to the bartenders to the security guards. The neighborhoods is a bit more industrial, but I always felt safe. The shuttle that takes you into Manhattan is great; although they may want to look into getting a bigger shuttle. There were a few times where people had to wait for he next bus due to it filling up, and busses only came once an hour. There is a subway station near the hotel though if you find yourself in a jam. We used it a few times when our schedule didn't allow us to wait for the shuttle. Not too far of a walk from the hotel.

Fantastic views, exceeded expectations.

Posted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: Great views, friendly staff.
Cons: Size of shuttle bus, seemed to keep getting full.
Location: There isnt THAT much to do directly around the hotel, but shuttle to manhattan is every hour and takes 15 mins, subway is also 10 min walk.
Didnt know what to expect from this hotel as it was outside manhattan, but wow we were impressed. All the rooms have a fantastic view, the staff cant do enough to help you. On top of all that the food is good and well priced as well as an hourly shuttle bus to and from manhattan. When i go back to new york i will seriously look at going back to Z.

Birthday Surprise

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: comfortable bed, lovely rain shower, complimentary flip flops in the room, stunning VIEWS! love love love
Cons: There were some wet spots on the carpet floor. random areas. check room 1109
Location: Dinner at Blend on The Water!! :) thank me later
I was there to celebrate my love's birthday. It was more like a daycation but it was the best. The view from our room was a million dollar view on a budget lol. He had no idea where we were going to stay so he was pleasantly surprised that i took him there. We had the best sleep, the bed is really comfortable, great showers, and complimentary flip flops were awesome. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. It felt like i was away on vacation because i was so relaxed and comfortable. Hopefully i'll be back with a group of girls to take advantage of the rooftop bar. see you soon!

Amazing views

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Views, rooftop bar, proximity to metro, free shuttle, all the staff we met were lovely
Cons: I realise it keeps costs down but one of the reasons to stay in a hotel is room cleaning, even if you paid a bit optional extra .
Location: Rooftop bar penthouse 808 restaurant The Z restaurant was being renovated when we were there so unable to try. Also we didn't have time to use bikes
as visitors from Australia on our first trip to NYC, I'm glad we stayed a the Z in the last three days of our trip, prior to that we were in the centre of the city and found that fantastic for getting around. The Z do have a shuttle but that was very in demand and driving takes about a half hour. There is also a metro nearby. But we stayed there for a different take on the city and it was gorgeous to gaze over it from our bed every night! the staff were unfailing lovely and that makes a big difference. This is what it presents as, a cool hotel with amazing views. I had planed to borrow the bikes and just ride around Brooklyn and hang out and I think if we'd factored more time in for chilling that could have been fantastic. I would recommend for a short stay with a different experience.

Great hotel to enjoy New York

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The staff gave excellent service and offered good local advice. Room was very comfortable and clean. Free bikes, wi-fi and international calls.
Cons: Would have liked an inside dining area in addition to the rooftop bar. Tea and coffee making facilities. More coat hangers and some drawer space.
Location: Nearby is Gantry State Park along the east river and a river taxi to downtown New York. Selection of nice restaurants and bars at reasonable price.
Spent a week at the Z Hotel NYC and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is ideal for enjoying New York without paying Manhattan prices. The free shuttle meant we could be at Central Park within 15 minutes and have access to all the iconic sights and experiences New York has to offer. We were also able to sleep at night as we were in a quiet area away from the noise and bustle of the city centre. The local area was also worth exploring with river side walks and good value restaurants.

Nice view of the city.... very small rooms

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: Rooftop, view from the rooms.
Location: I wouldn't walk outside alone at night, driving is definitely the way to go.
The pictures definitely made the room seem larger than its actual size. This boutique hotel was cute but seems like everything was scaled down in size-- tiny room, tiny sink, tiny trash can.... everything TINY. It was odd that there wasn't an ice machine available or an iron/ironing board in the room but the hotel staff were quick to accommodate any requests. However, the view from the room (and the floor to ceiling windows) seemed to make up for everything that was missing. Thankfully, we weren't in the room too long so it wasn't much of an issue.

Nice hotel

Posted Aug 11, 2014
The room had a great view of the city, the room was clean and large for a New York hotel. Bathroom was nice and clean. The rooftop bar/club gets crazy on the weekends which you'll hear if your high up. Otherwise it's fun. Great location, easy to commute to and from.

Trendy hotel with free shuttle

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Free shuttle
Cons: AC unit
Location: Close to subway
Awesome! Didn't know there was a free shuttle to take us onto Manhattan. When the shuttle was full one morning, staff called us a car to take us in for no charge. Room was modern and clean, though on the small side. AC unit was extremely loud, had to sleep with a pillow over my head. Restaurant was being renovated so limited seating but the rooftop bar was nice to stop by on late nights.

Great hotel close to city with wonderful views.

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Decor great. Proximity to city. Spectacular views. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Can the dance parties on rooftop on Friday and Saturday nights that go to 4am in the morning. Very noisy and inconsiderate for paying hotel guests.
Location: Location is great (albeit industrial) with amazing views of bridge and Manhattan skyline.
Really enjoyed stay at hotel. Room had spectacular views, especially at night and decor is modern and slightly quirky. Staff very good and shuttle bus service excellent. Only downside are parties held on rooftop on Friday and Saturday nights. Very noisey until 4am in the morning, and not something paying guests should have to endure. Rooftop area (with bar and comfortable seating areas) is fantastic, and should be made available to guests instead of having to use bar/restaurant in basement that has no views and construction is taking place.
