The Whole Place to Ourselves!Posted Dec 27, 2012
Pros: Gatsby-worthy decor
Cons: nothing within walking distance
Location: country roads, take me home
We normally go for the convenience of the hotels along the LIE when visiting Suffolk, but we're glad we went for the elegance this time. We stayed here over Christmas weekend 2012, and since the place is centered around weddings and catered events, it was fairly empty while we were there. Great for us -- our room was on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the huge main lobby and its sweeping staircases fluu of holiday decorations, so we got to pretend we were billionaires waking up alone in our North Shore mansion on Christmas morning. We didn't get to try the restaurant or spa, but we made heavy use of the Starbucks every morning. It's a bit of a drive to everything else, but be sure to seek out the "business" Route 25A in Rocky Point for all your provisions. And watch out for deer at night on William Floyd Parkway.

Not as advertisedPosted Sep 20, 2012
Pros: Jacuzzi tub
Location: Not that close to the wineries.
Hotel was advertised with a "state of the art" gym. Only one piece each of equipment of poor quality
