“Construction on Thanksgiving”
We stayed the night before thanksgiving after a 7 hour drive and were awoken the morning, around 7am thanksgiving day, by very loud construction. The workers were jamming their radio, conversing loudly, using some kind of jackhammer, and had a barking dog with them. it was pretty unbelievable. The front desk staff apologized and comped parking, but nothing can really make up for loss of sleep.
“fits my needs”
The room needed more lighting and did not have a large dressing mirror
“Remarkable Retro Hotel in Beverly Hills”
The Avalon was amazing! Early 70's building remodeled with a hip fun decor. 3 streets from Rodeo Drive, nice area.
“Nice enough but would not stay there more then 1 night”
I stayed at the Avalon for one night whilst i was in transit home. The Decor is gorgeous and its great to see a very old 50's style motel 6 being converted into what the avalon is now. My issues were, Valet parking was a joke @ $35 a day The room i had was Minuscule, at first i thought i was actually in a large closet. The Pool in the centre of the hotel is a nice feature, however screaming children running up and down the walkway (on the 2nd floor) was very annoying especially as the hotel staff did nothing to reinforce any 'consideration' for the hotel guests. Location is great. Staff were rather abrupt and did not offer to assist me with my bags (2x large suitcases, 2x Medium suitcases, & a duffel bag) I was not even offered a bell boy trolley to get my bags up to my room i had to drag them upstairs in a few trips.
“AWFUL!!”
Don't dwell on the pictures they post.... they will probably walk you through their back door into a dark ally (at 11PM) and send you to a small building across the ally. It was worse than motel 6
“good for the price very nice an clean”
Did not like the personnel on the front desk. Not very nice.
“Great location in Beverly Hills”
Everything was great! Love all of it except for the parking. Had to pay an additional $30.00 on top of the room rate. $15.00 - $20.00 would be more reasonable for parking.
“So so...”
Called 2hr ahead before check in but stil had something went wrong, finally checked into the 3rd room I was lead to. Hotel emplyees are very friendly but the hotel entrance is not very good.
“Lovely, but don't order from the late night menu!”
My stay was lovely, however, do not ever book with Fox rental cars!!! The shuttle was not at the airport as promised, it took an hour just to get a shuttle, then after arriving at Fox rental car, we got to wait about 2 hours in line.
“Good hotel but when comparing hotels include their $30 parking”
The Avalon hotel is in a great location, with good sized rooms, an excellent bathroom and products, and a friendly staff. However, the hotel is a refurbished three-story motel from the 60's and does not contain the class of a typical 4-star hotel. Additionally, the price is competative until you show up and realize that valet parking is the only option at $30. I would recommend the hotel for the location but would look around at other hotels in the area with free parking.
