convenient to the south Beverly hills community

Location: we needed to be in the Pico/Robertson area and found the location to be perfect.
we had a 2 night stay at the hotel. the room was clean and comfortable, but lacked some amenities that would be expected in a room in a boutique-style establishment, it is best described as bare-bones. we were very surprised by the $40/night parking cost, but don't know if that is the norm for the area. we were not aware of that cost when we booked the reservation and were surprised at check-in. Morning coffee is available carry-out from the bar. the ambiance of the hotel, in general, is spectacular, especially the pool area.

The Avalon

Great stay. Nice room, but a little small. Friendly staff. $31 for valet parking is ridiculous and you can't park on the street over night without a permit from the city unless you want to park 4 blocks away from the hotel and all the residents in the area already take up all that parking, so your kinda forced into it.

Nicely our of fashion

Pros: Soft and relax atmosphere
Cons: backup and modern technology (including phones which have no proper loudspeaker device for those of us who come here to work...
Location: good location
very nice staff. hotel has an atmosphere of the 80's to it which make sit auite charming and its well lcoated. Staff very nice. rooms and conveneices slightly under the standard one woudl expect. Avoid the ones on the Patio and the ones on the avenue at all cost as they are extremely noisy, but the ones in the back separated building above the parking are very calm and have a nice terrace at the top. The WIFI - hence the Internet went down all night - I was comming from UK ,so up and ready to work from 2 am and the hotel staff had no backup plan whatsoever and had to wait for the ingeneer to repare in the morning.

Making the most of what they have

Decent location a few blocks from Rodeo drive. Has the feel of a former Travel Lodge dressed up to the nines. Very fancy valet and front desk, pretty pool visible from the lobby and restaurant, awkward to swim with diners seated on the deck. No card with services in the room. Super friendly staff. Our room was across a little street and while beautifully appointed with smoked glass, still was on an alley and felt like an apartment building.

Excellent service

The staff at the Avalon are simply fantastic. My husband and I were staying in LA/Beverly Hills to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. As soon at they found that out, everyone went out of their way to make us feel special. From making reservations at a great restaurant to leaving a bottle of champagne in our room. At the restaurant, everyone also knew it was our anniversary and as a gift, the hotel sent a yummy dessert to our table with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. It was just so thoughtful! :) The hotel itself is great value in a great location. Yes, its a little older with more of a retro feel but what they lack in modern fixtures, they make up for in first class customer service. I will recommend it to any friends heading to LA. Thank you from Karen and Andy
