Room was disappointing

Posted Jan 22, 2015
Recently stayed here and got a room in the "addition," which is through the lobby and across an alley! It was in need of a major renovation. On the plus side, the hotel has a great location and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Convenient walking location

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Booked for my 40th birthday with husband for the week. On arrival the smell of the room was awful smelling of Pets, also the entrance to room was just above a carpark. Not a nice site at all. We asked to change room and got a slightly better room and less smell, although still was existent. We then decided to upgrade to 1 bed suite as still it was not comfortable. Obviously this was better and spacious but came with a price! There were problems with lighting wiring as every room we went to has flashing bulbs either at entrance or corner etc.. The creaking of floorboards on floor above were very annoying. If not upgraded room, we would not stay here again unfortunately. Staff were all very friendly but the room service we had 3 mistakes during the 7 day stay. They were apologetic which were nice at least they tried to improve. We also got free bottle of bubbly which was a nice gift. Food at restaurant is great quality, location is fabulous to shops/cafés, just smell in room and lift, carpark view is most off putting. Bed was way too soft and we both ended up with back ache every morning. Hope they improve and we would visit again as it's a shame, since staff were most friendly!

Pros: Swimming Pool. Cafe. Decor.
Cons: Rooms! The car drive way!
Location: Nice location. But everything is a car drive away!
I was very pleasantly surprised by an incredibly friendly and accommodating Staff - from Front Desk to the Valet Parking Staff. It has a lovely pool. I loved it. Cute quaint restaurant. I loved it too.

Beautiful hotel with great service

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: The decor and staff service were excellent!
Cons: I would recommend that the area by the pool be cleaned up a little more.
Location: I went to hollywood for the night and it was a great location!
The staff was extremely friendly and greeted us with drinks upon arrival. The room was extremely clean and the valet service was very courteous as well. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again.

Wonderful walkable location

Pros: Location, staff, room
Cons: Cleaning of room and halls over holidays
We had a nearly perfect experience at the Avalon. Stayed over Christmas, walked to Beverly Hills for last minute shopping, enjoyed breakfast at the hotel one day and walked to Tarte Tatin nearby second day. Both excellent. Hotel staff were very helpful and positive. Room cleaning over holiday wasn't great, but after Christmas it was back to perfect. Recommend staying in the annex rooms with private patios for quiet and privacy. We have family living near the hotel and so we will stay there again.

We had a large dog and their policy us one for under 40 lbs but they allowed him anyway which was great after traveling all day. The additional $40 parking is obscene.

Pros: The friendly staff at the desk and the very pleasant and helpful wait staff. The location is easy to access and the price is right.
Cons: The building is handsome, vintage, old. We like that feel but with age comes fewer amenities; hooks in bathrooms, places for your stuff, a good bureau.
Location: Location is superb for walking to major shopping on Rodeo Dr., Canon Dr. or just strolling through a quiet neighborhood. Feels like home!
We arrived on Sunday and stayed 5 nights. We slept well, ate well and relaxed well. We have children all over the city so the hotel was centrally located for everyone's convenience. The walking opportunities are wonderful at the Avalon…shaded, quiet streets… an anomaly in the heart of Bev. Hills. Try it, you'll like it.
